SUNSHINE DIZON, who plays Aiko’s younger sister in “Rainbow’s Sunset”, says that she also has no problem if she’d have a relative who are members of the LGBT community. “May dalawang aunties akong lesbian and okay lang sa’kin,” she says. “They’re both very good, very nice people. We should not be ruled by gender biases. In the end, hindi naman yung sexual orientation mo ang importante but whether naging mabuti ka bang tao.”
Sunshine plays a single parent who is employed as an NGO worker in “Rainbow’s Sunset”. She was able to relate with her role as she herself is a single parent now. “It’s hard to be one but our director, Joel Lamangan, said something very nice when asked if malungkot raw ba maging gay and alone. He said happiness is a choice and you should not assume that just because someone is single, sad na ang life niya. Kasi marami namang single, pero masaya sila. In the same way na marami ring married, but hindi rin talaga happy sa buhay nila. I also learned from our co-stars, Tita Gloria Romero who plays our mom and Ate Aiko who plays my elder sister. Sila rin, maraming pinagdaanan sa naging relationships nila and they said you should never compare your relationship with those of others kasi iba-iba naman ang journey ng bawat isa sa atin.”
Has her marriage to her husband, Timothy Tan, been annulled? “No, not yet. Three years na rin kaming wala but I’m not closing my doors. I’ve moved on but somehow, ayoko alisin sa isip ko na baka may chance pa for a reconciliation. Lahat naman tayo, pro-family at mas maganda pa rin kung buo ang isang pamilya. As of now, I just leave it all up to the Lord kung ano ba talaga ang will Niya for us.”
