MANILYN'S simple birthday celebration at her home |
MANILYN REYNES celebrated her 48th birthday on April 27 and she was deluged by messages from industry friends, colleagues and her fans who all greeted her warmly on that special day.
We saw Manilyn when was first brought to Regal Films as a child star by her manager then, Raul Laurente, about 40 years ago. She just came from Cebu and Mother Lily asked to her to go up a table to sing and dance and she gamely did so.
She immediately did several movies for Regal starting with “To Mama with Love” and quickly won a best child actress award for “Minsan May Isang Ina” as the epileptic sister of Nora Aunor.
She then formed the triplets of tween stars with Kristina Paner and Sheryl Cruz and became a hit recording star with her song “Sayang na Sayang” making it to the top of the charts.
So much water has passed under the bridge since then and she’s now a proud mom to three boys, with former actor Aljon Jimenez as the dad.
She’s still very active up to now, playing the role of Michael V’s wife in the hit sitcom “Pepito Manaloto” for which she even won a best comedy actress award. She also continues to do soaps and her last ones were “Inday Will Always Love You” and “Madrasta”.
“I really have so much to be thankful for,” she says. “Andami kong blessings na natanggap through the years kaya panay ang pasasalamat ko sa ating Dear Lord God and Dear Jesus.
"Salamat din sa lahat ng nakaalalang tumawag, mag-message, at mag-post ng greetings nila noong birthday ko. I feel so loved!
"Lalo na by my husband Aljon and ang mga anak naming sina Kyle, Kirk and Kael. Kahit hindi ako nakapag-host ng bonggang party dahil sa lockdown, maraming salamat pa rin sa lahat ng bumati sa akin.”
So how is her family coping with the corona crisis?
“Siempre, we comply with the rules to just stay home to prevent the spread of the virus. We always wash our hands at kung may lalabas man, dapat, may face mask.
"And we all pray as a family to the Lord na sana, matapos na itong ordeal na pinagdaraanan ng buong mundo at matuklasan na ang antidote o lunas sa virus na ito so we can go on with our lives."
