DJ Myke goes solo in Homework

DJ MYKE used to be known as the beatbox of the Akafellas and as one of the Sabado Boys whose show is on its second season on TV 5. Ivory Records now gives him the chance to record and launch his first solo album, "Homework". His real name is Michael Salomon and he's been going steady with sexy vamp Ehra Madrigal for 7 years now. How come it has lasted that long? "Both of us make an effort to make it work kahit pareho kami busy," he says. "We also try to keep our relationhip as discreet and personal as possible. I've known her since college in La Salle where I was taking up masscom, pero di ko natapos."


A certified hunk, he was first runner up in the 2004 Mossimo Bikini Summit which he joined when he was 20 years old. In October 2008, he was with the Akafellas on a gig in Nueva Ecija when a vegetable truck bumped their van and broke his kneecap. He had to stay home to recover for two months and he went on a song-writing binge during that time. The album's carrier single, "Huling Araw", says we should all enjoy life everyday like it's our last day. He wants to thank Ella for taking care of him personally at the time he couldn't walk. Have they talked about being wed? "It'll come naturally. As of now, we both still want to accomplish a lot of other things muna kasi bata pa naman kami."

His album is a combination of originals ("Huling Araw", "Holdap", "Easy Ka Lang", "Tanging Bituin" which he wrote for Ehra, and "Pagbigyan") and remakes (E-heads' "Alapaap", The Beatles' "If I Fell", JImmy Bondoc's "Ilang Ulit", "Always Something There to Remind Me" and the late FrancisM's "Kaleidoscope World".)
