Jennylyn mercado happy with role in Gumapang ka sa lusak

JENNYLYN Mercado is glad that the lead role of a struggling starlet in "Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak" fell on her lap. '"It's an acting piece," she says "Pinapanood nila sa'min ang original movie directed by the late Lino Brocka at mas kumapal na ang story ngayon. My role was originally played by Dina Bonnevie at mas complex na yung character ko kasi binigyan ako ng sarili kong family at maraming subplots. We're so poor so gusto kong mag-showbiz. Breadwinner ako at parents ko sina Lotlot de Leon and Julio Diaz. Sister ko si Vaness del Moral na naaksidente pa. Gagawin kong lahat para sumikat. I join a beauty pageant para makilala at may politikong gagawin akong kabit, si Al Tantay."

Some folks think she's snubbing Ryza Cenon with whom she had a feud before because of Mark Herras. "Naku, that was years ago. Ang dami ng nangyari, may anak na ko. Wala na yun. Nagkaayos na kami at nagbebeso kami when we see each other. Exagerrated lang yung iba at parang gusto kaming pag-awayin uli."

She's paired with Dennis Trillo who reprises the role first played by Christopher de Leon as a convicted hitman. "The first time we were paired was four years ago in 'Dangal' of 'Now & Forever'. Wala pa kaming mga anak noon. Now, we're more mature and we even have a love scene here na di namin ginawa noon."
