ARNELL IGNACIO turned a year old on March 17 but he'll hold a free birthday concert on March 25 at Bgy. Bahay Toro, Project 8, where he grew up. He invited good friends like Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Ai Ai de las Alas to celebrate it with him. "Dito ko talaga na-feel maraming nagmamahal sa'kin kasi willing silang sumuporta sa kandidatura ko as councilor sa District 1 kahit wala akong budget," he says. "I decided to run kasi ayoko namang magpatawa lang buong buhay ko. Gusto ko rin makatulong. I gave up two TV shows and one radio program for this. HIndi naman kasi puedeng tawa lang tayo ng tawa para malimutan ang mga problema, dapat, harapin din ito't bigyan ng solusyon. I aim to improve infrastructure and livelihood but my main goal is to strengthen the family kasi ang daming sirang pamilya ngayon."
But he himself is separated from his way Frannie. Does this mean he'll soon reconcile with her? "We broke up 6 years ago and our daughter Sofia is now 13 years old. Hindi pa rin annulled ang marriage namin, pero nag-uusap na kami kaya natutuwa naman si Sofia na todo ang suporta sa kandidatura ko. Ginawa pa niya ko campaign sa Facebook."
Arnell is supported by a senior citizen group called Butterflies. "We do aerobics, have fun runs and parties together. We're like family as we helped redefine the roles of the elderly in the community. Once elected, I want to further awaken people's love for the community."
He's running with Annie Susano, Beth and Doray Delarmente and Bambi Vergel de Dios.
