Bangs Garcia got an indecent proposal from a politician

BANGS GARCIA is the only discovery of the Close Up to Fame contest held in ABS-CBN four years ago who's still active in showbiz. "The winners, Carina Cabebe and Reyson Yap, are from Davao like me," she says. "They were cast in the movie 'Close to You' with Sam Milby pero hindi nasundan. I guess I'm luckier kasi nasama ko sa 'Palos' then I'm now in 'Magkano ang Iyong Dangal'."

She admits she had second thoughts about going sexy then, which is why the role of Allen Dizon's mistress in "Marino" went to Krista Ranillo. "When they offered 'Magkano', ready na ko magpa-sexy, what with Direk Chito Rono as our director. Timing din kasi breadwinner na ko ng family namin after our leather goods business in Davao went bad, natalo ng cheaper China products. Para ngang yung nangyari rin sa character ko in 'Magkano' who's now being harrassed by Jake Roxas."

She's turning 22 on May 26. Has she ever received an indecent proposal? "Yes, coursed through my manager. From a politician daw. I felt insulted. Ano ba tingin niya sa'kin? I'm not for sale."
