GMA-7 IS leaving no stone unturned to make sure their new Sunday noontime show, "Party Pilipinas", will be a true crowdpleaser. One week before it starts airing, technical rehearsals for the various production numbers have already started and they want to be very professional about it. Stars are told not to bring their alalays to the studio and to come on time since they have a new dance teacher imported from Hollywood. His name is Ruben Monet, born on November 17, 1979 in Tijuana, Mexico but grew up in Guadalajara and San Diego. He is now based in Hollywood.
He's called Fusion as he's really a fusion of two races. His mom is Latino and his dad is black. He was preparing to be a lawyer when he joined a dance group in school that made him realize that dancing is his real calling after they won $5,000 in a dance contest for MTV. He then went to Hollywood and became an established hiphop choreographer who has worked with big stars like Will Smith, Beyonce, Diana Ross, Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Akon, Ludacris and many more. "I'm glad to be a part of the GMA Family," he says. "I'm amazed at the talent of their dancers and stars as I teach them an original style I created, Kung Fu Hiphop. They all dance so well and I'm really impressed."
Pinoys are dear to his heart as he once had a Filipino girlfriend. "She's beautiful, inside and out, but we broke up because she wants to settle down and I'm not ready yet. I've also worked with a Fil-American actor, Rob Schneider, in the movie 'Hot Chick'." While here, he wants to visit the countryside and the beaches when he's not working.
