Ruffa Gutierrez formally presented as new star of TV 5

TV 5 HEAD for Creative & Entertainment Percy Intalan formally presented Ruffa Gutierrez to the press at a lunch presscon yesterday. "We're very excited that Ruffa is joining TV 5," he says. "We thought it wouldn't happen but everything fell into place so we welcome her to TV 5. Even our production team is excited about her. She'll first join 'Talentadong Pinoy' as a talent scout, then she'll have her own showbiz talk show, 'Paparazzi', with Cristy Fermin and DJ Mo as co-hosts. We'll also give her a drama show with new writers and directors."

"I signed a 3-year non-eclusive contract with them and I'm very honored to be chosen as one of the new contract stars of TV 5," says Ruffa. "I got emotional kasi three years din ako sa ABS, but nagpaalam ng maayos ang Mommy ko sa kanila through a letter she sent to Charo Santos and Cory Vidanes. They're sad but di raw nila kayang tapatan what TV 5 offers."

Why? How much is she getting? "Naku, huwag na lang isulat. Basta they're giving me what's due me. But I really want to thank ABS for my well managed comeback after I came home and left Istanbul. Siempre sad din ako kasi friends ko na silang lahat, lalo sa 'The Buzz'. Nag-iyakan kami. They're saying, bakit ka pa lilipat, okay ka naman dito. It's a big decision for me, but I have to grow. I'm a single mom and I want to secure my children's future. I'll be missing all the people I worked with, including Kuya Boy, Kris, Ai Ai, Bea and John Lloyd. At first, reluctant ako to move, but when I met Mr. Manny Pangilinan himself, I was convinced. Kung hindi si MVP ang big boss, I won't move kasi di ba ilang beses nang ni-launch ang TV 5? But they told me their plans and I'm so impressed. They'll have new studios na accessible to all talents, they will go High Definition like in the US and their expansion is not only regional kundi global. So don't who'd miss me in TFC, don't worry dahil magiging global din ang TV 5. This is also exciting for the viewers kasi mas marami na silang choices."

Since MVP will also go into film production, they also have movie projects for Ruffa who has just finished shooting "Working Girls" of Direk Joey Reyes for GMA-Viva-Unitel. Ruffa has already shot for TV 5's new station ID and logo that will be unveiled at their trade launch at the World Trade Center on March 25. Aside from Ruffa, TV 5 will also have Dolphy in "Mga Kuwento ni Mang Pidol" and Maricel Soriano in "5-Star Specials Present the Diamond Star". They also got Luchi Cruz-Valdez to head their news and public affairs office, launching a new newscast anchored by Paolo Bediones and Cheryl Cosim, plus several new public affair shows in time for the election.

Ruffa is also excited as her ex-husband Yilmaz Bektas told her she's coming home on the third week of March. "Ewan ko lang kung totoo, but I'm happy for our kids kasi one year na siyang di nakikita. I'm just worried kasi sabi niya, 'I know eveything'. I wonder what he's reffering to."
