Ruffa Gutierrez is all class as she bids farewell to The Buzz

SINCE 'SHOWBIZ Central" has been overshadowed by "The Buzz" for several weeks now, they're really doing everything to get back the viewers. They started last Sunday with the Banda-oke guys singing "Awit ng Kabataan", which is sadly identified with PBB Teen Edition. They also introduced a Facebook segment featuring ordinary people who are lookalikes of some stars and an interactive portion where the hosts read the reactions/feedback coming from viewers about various issues. Sadly, they're not that interesting. Who cares about what these people say?

There's an interview with Ryan Agoncillo about the pregnancy of his wife Judy Ann Santos. Sadly, this is also not that interesting. After he announced in "Eat Bulaga" that yes, she's infanticipating, what more is there to say? Since Manny Pacquiao won in Dallas, there's a phone patch interview with him. And as if that's not enough, there's also a separate interview with Jinkee. Again, sad to say, it's been proven that people are just interested in Manny when he's fighting on the ring. What happens after that does not really concern them that much. Thank God Mommy Dionisia was not interviewed anymore.

In contrast, "The Buzz" has as its finale item Boy Abunda's solo interview with Ruffa Gutierrez who's all sweetness and light after she let bygones be bygones. But instead of the show ending with Ruffa, leave it to Kris Aquino not be outshone. No one was prepared for what followed. Patatalbog ba si Kris? She shed tons and tons of tears while talking, as if she's the aggrieved party. At first, we thought she'd say goodbye to "The Buzz" since she's affecting her brother's candidacy adversely. But later, she was suggesting that what happened in "The Buzz" is just part of an orchestrated move as election nears to discredit her brother. In effect, she said she was just forced by her sisters to apologize to Ruffa because as far as she's concerned, she didn't do anything wrong. Kris is turning 40 next year, and yet she keeps on invoking her sisters and her late lamented mom, as if she's not capable of making her own decisions yet. Honestly, we were not moved by her "paawa" effect. As someone said: "Bakit mas magaling siyang umarte sa 'The Buzz' kaysa sa 'Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo'?"

She suggested then that the tape of her incident with Ruffa be reviewed as she didn't think it's offensive. Well, all tapes of past shows should be reviewed to show how many times she cut Ruffa short while Ruffa was still speaking. It's not just a single incident and even other movie writers have noticed this and teased Ruffa about it. But Ruffa is so good-natured she just took the writers' comments lightly.
