DIRECTOR Giuseppe Bede Sampedro is now with TV-5

DIRECTOR Giuseppe Bede (GB) Sampedro is now with the Kapatid network, TV 5, megging the new Sunday showbiz talkshow, "Paparazzi", with Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristy Fermin and Dolly Anne Carvajal. It competes with his own manager, Boy Abunda, who hosts the rival "The Buzz". "Trabaho lang naman lahat," he says. "We don't consider ourselves as competitors."

It's common knowledge Cristy has a gripe against Boy. "Hindi naman ako involved doon and I won't take sides para di ako maipit."

GB has directed Ruffa before in "Ruffa and Ai" so they get along fine. He also directed Boy himself in "Boy and Kris" and that's where he met his current inamorata, Candy Pangilinan, when she guested in it. GB has three kids with talent manager Maristel Fernandez whil Candy has a son. They're just waiting for the annulment of their first marriages so they can tie the knot. "We're not living together," he says. "We can have a civil marriage but we want to tie the knot in church."

GB debuted as a film director in "Astig" last year and won the Cinemalaya best director award for his very first try. "Astig" got the most number of awards as it also won best supporting actor for Arnold Reyes, best editing and best sound. The film is now nominated again in the coming Star Awards. "Astig" got much acclaim in the New Currents Section of the last Pusan International Filmfest and will also be shown in the Barcelona Asian Filmfest from April 30 to May 10. GB plans to meg another full length film this year.
