Jinggoy Estrada reveals he tried to court Sharon Cuneta

MOTHER LILY HOSTED dinner for Sen. Jinggoy Estrada and among the stars who came to show their support are Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Roderick Paulate and Tirso Cruz III. Sen. Jinggoy was commended for his honesty when he was interviewed on TV and he admitted that he lost weight due to Bariatric surgery or gastric banding. "There was a time when I'd eat all the food on the table," he says. "Malakas talaga ko kumain kaya lumaki ako nang lumaki. Wala na akong leeg, so I decided to undergo bariatric surgery as my dad kept on telling me ang taba-taba ko."

What can he say about the candidacy of Guia Gomez as mayor of San Juan? "She's the mother of my brother, JV, and if she's determined and sincere in helping the people of San Juan, why not? Okay lang."

Jinggoy continues to lead, along with his good friend Bong Revilla, in the surveys for senatoriables. But he's not the type who'd be sitting pretty and continues to campaign all over the country. In introducing him, Mother Lily called him a man of few words but a man of substance who's full of wisdom. He became the youngest vice mayor in the country at 25 and later served three terms as mayor of San Juan. He would have been a child actor but his dad, former Pres. Erap, told him to finish his studies first. He finished elementary and high school at the Ateneo then majored in economics at UP. He then joined the movies and starred in "Markang Rehas" and "Bagets Gang", among others.

Jinggoy reveals that in 1979, he tried to court Sharon Cuneta but when he saw who his rival was, Gabby Concepcion, he retreated. "Alam kong wala akong laban dun. But at least, ang napangasawa ko (Precy Vitug), kamukha rin ni Kumareng Sharon."
