R&B/SOUL is the theme of "American Idol"

R&B/SOUL is the theme of "American Idol" this week on Q Channel 11. R&B superstar and Grammy winner Usher will also be on hand as guest mentor to this year’s AMERICAN IDOL finalists. Usher will also take the IDOL stage during the results show to perform his hit single “OMG.”

Last week, Paige Miles, the 24-year-old teacher from Cypress , Texas got the lowest number of viewer votes and was eliminated from the competition. Teen singer-actress Miley Cyrus was the guest mentor during the Billboard Number One Hits week.

This week, as the competition heats up even more, the Top 10 – Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus, Didi Benami, Lee DeWyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Katie Stevens and Tim Urban – will have to dig deep to find a song that will blow the judges and the viewers away.

So far, the finalists that have been consistently giving knockout performances week after week are Crystal Bowersox, 24, and Siobhan Magnus, 20. Bowersox, the young mom from Elliston , Ohio , impressed again with her version of the Janis Joplin classic “Me and Bobby McGee.”

Magnus, from Cape Cod , Massachusetts , sang “Superstition” which impressed Miley Cyrus enough to give a standing ovation. Three judges – including Randy Jackson who told Magnus, “You have so much conviction, I love it.” – loved the performance. Only famously acerbic judge Simon Cowell was not as impressed as he was last week when Magnus belted out “Paint It Black.”

On the other hand, Andrew Garcia, who was one of the frontrunners during Hollywood Week, was not able to bounce back. Will he be able to redeem himself this week? Who will give the standout, blue-eyed soul performance this week? Who will receive enough votes to stay in the competition? Watch the results night on Thursday, 6 pm on GMA 7 (same day replay at 8 pm). The Wednesday and Thursday episodes will be replayed on Easter Sunday, April 4, 3:20-5:40 pm on Q Channel 11.
