Barbie Forteza is the best new female star in Star Awards

BARBIE FORTEZA says she didn't expect to win the best new female star of the year award in the recent Star Awards for Movies for her portrayal of a deaf-mute in "Puntod", an indie film megged by GMA reporter Cesar Apolinario. "When my name was called, I couldn't believe it," she says. "Parang nasa cloud 9 ako."

The little seen movie gave her acting honors but it was in GMA-7 shows that she gained fame, as the young Rhian Ramos in "Stairway to Heaven" and as the spunky Cyndi in the hit 6 PM drama, "First Time". She dedicated her award to her ka-love team in these shows, Joshua Dionisio. Does this mean something special is already going on between them? "Ay hindi po. Binati ko po siya kasi binilin niya yun sa'kin sa taping, na kapag nanalo raw po ako, wag ko kalimutangbattin siya."

The Kapuso network is very proud of Barbie and they believe she is destined to achieve more fame and glory in the next show they've lined up for her, "Pilyang Kerubin".
