Bong Revilla will not transfer to ABS-CBN

IT STARTED as a blind item: Sen. Bong Revilla's rumored plan to leave GMA-7 and move to ABS-CBN that bought the rights to his dad's "Agimat" movies and were remade into fantaseryes starring various actors including Bong's own son, Jolo. Bong finally talked about it and he said he'll remain a Kapuso but there's an offer from ABS to do a movie for Star Cinema, just like Robin Padilla who did TV series with GMA-7 but is now shooting a movie with Star co-starring Toni Gonzaga. He added that it's Jolo who'll soon be given another show by ABS after his "Tiyagong Akyat" rated very well.

Now that the election is over, Bong can return to hosting his former show, "Kap's Amazing Stories", that was rating much higher when he was in it. It's good he didn't transfer to ABS because it's very obvious that the current thrust of ABS is to develop and boost the careers of their new talents, which is why they're launching one female young star after another on TV like Erich, Maja, Bangs, Empress, etc., along with the corresponding leading men. They're also cultivating new faces in "Gimik 2010" like Jessy Mendiola, Lance Christopher, etc. We can't blame them as the talent fees of these stars are definitely much cheaper and they no swellheads at that. If Bong would move to ABS, he'd be just like other former big stars (Dolphy, Maricel Soriano) who signed up with them but have no projects so they're now with TV 5. And let's face it, there's a premium to being young as the public always wants younger, fresher stars.
