Dennis Trillo does not kiss and tell

FREEHAND by Mario E. Bautista

THE LAST TIME he was in Hongkong a couple of weeks ago, Dennis Trillo was with Jennlyn Mercado, then he returned there to tape the pilot episode, "Last Romance", of "Love Bug" with Carla Abellana. Didn't he miss Jen when he was back in Hongkong? "Siempre na-miss din," he says. "But work naman ang pinunta ko roon."
As usual, writers ask him the standard question: if he's not on with Jen now, would he fall for Carla?

And he gave the standard answer: "Why not? Napakaganda niya, talented pa. Sino di mai-in love sa kanya?"

He seems to fall in love with all his leading ladies. "Hindi naman. I was also paired with Angel Locsin, Katrina Halili, Nadine Samonte, Marian Rivera, hindi naman ako na-link sa kanila."

So how will he compare the kiss of Jen to that of Carla? "Naku, it's not good magkumpara ng mga halik ng babae. Malinaw naman kay Jen na trabaho lang ang lahat."
Carla is a newcomer compared to him. How will he assess her acting in "Love Bug" that starts airing tomorrow after Party Pilipinas? "Co-hosts ko siya sa 'Starstruck V' kaya friends na kami. Nakita ko kung paano siya nahasa sa 'Rosalinda' and other shows niya. Magaling siya. She plays a dying girl in 'Love Bug'. Mahusay siya sa lahat ng eksena niya. This is a touching love story for all those who love romance."

ALLAN K is thankful that viewers have accepted warmly his new show with Eugene Domingo, "Comedy Bar", shown tonight at 11 PM. But won't this somehow be a rival to live comedy bars like his own Klownz and Zirkoh? "No naman, kasi iba pa rin ang humor sa live na anything goes kaysa on TV na mas sanitized," he says. "But I'm enjoying doing this kasi may kantahan, may skits, may live interaction with our audience inside the studio. It's fun to do kasi lumalabas yung natural sense of humor namin, hindi scripted kundi spontaneous."

Allan has been on TV since 1995 with "Eat Bulaga". "Bale I'm celebrating my 15th year on TV now and sana, umabot pa ng another 15 more years."

How is it working with Eugene? "Madaling katrabaho kasi funny talaga siya just being herself. She's sharp, witty, kaya pati yung normal na pag-uusap nyo, you'd laugh at her. Never naming pinag-usapan what we'll do, kusa na lang lumalabas. Even in introducing the guests, wala kaming script. Bahala na kami. Ganun lang. Napansin ko lang, nate-threaten siya sa'kin kasi yung Brazilian na kasama namin, si Fabio Ide, parang mas type ako kaysa sa kanya. Hindi ko naman masisi si Fabio kasi mas kaakit-akit naman talaga ako, di ba?" And he laughs.

FRENCHESKA FARR won in GMA-7's Are You the next Big Star but it's the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) that gives her the chance to be an actress in the movie musical "Emir" opening on June 9 in theaters nationwide. "It's an honor for me na akong nakuha to play the role of Amelia," she says. "She's a yaya who devotes all her life in taking care of the sheik's son in the Middle East. Ipapakitang tumanda ako rito and it's really a big acting challenge for me. I'm grateful to Direk Chito Rono for guiding my performance all throughout the filming. I'm proud to be in a film that pays tribute to overseas Filipino workers."

"Emir" is an original Filipino musical written by Jerry Gracio and with original songs by various Pinoy composers headed by Gary Granada, shot on location in Morocco. Frencheska sang her solo song, "Bakit Ako Naririto", at the presscon and she's superb. She is given a formidable supporting cast who all sing, headed by Dulce as Ester, the strict mayordoma in the sheik's palace; Bayang Barrios as Amelia's mom, Beverly Salviejo as Diday, the Visayan yaya with crab mentality; Liesl Batucan as the Fil-Muslim yaya, Melanie Dujunco as Mylene, the villainous cook, Julia Clarete as Angie, the flirtatious yaya; Valerie Bariou Bondoc (wife of Onemig Bondoc) as the sheik's wife, Sid Lucero as her leading man, plus Arabic actors led by Joshua Hourani and Mahdi Varjani.

"We are thrilled to have an outstanding artistic team led by Chito Rono," says executive producer Nestor Jardin of the CCP. "The material is good and we left no stone unturned, budget wise, to make sure it's world class, from the authentic locations to the larger than life sets and the state of the art filming equipment like the Red camera. The elements we used are all topnotch and we're confident this film will raise the bar for Filipino filmmaking."

SHE USED to be identified as Diether Ocampo's girlfriend but Rima Ostwani is now determined to make it on her own. Born to a Syrian father and a Spanish-German mother, her name means "the eyes of the deer." She grew up in Lebanon, spending at least 10 years of her childhood there. She went back to the Philippines when she reached high school. She speaks 5 languages: Pilipino, English, Spanish, French and Arabic. "I was schooled formally in Arabic and French. We speak English at home, while I learned Spanish informally from my mom," she says.

What did he like in Diet? "When I first met him, he told me 'I have this foundation. It's about children.' That's when I realized that he wasn't just an actor. He had me when he told me he has this social cause and I also love kids." Now that she has joined showbiz, she wants to be a host. "I want to do lifestyle shows since I love talking. In fact, I was in the high school debate team and also a member of the student council. I can discuss anything, everything under the sun. I have a very cheery personality and am very friendly. Hindi ako maarte. I may be makikay but I can be very cowboy too." She has done a few modeling stints in high school and college and is open to do TV commercials, but she has no plans of acting. "It's for a certain kind of people. I don't think I'm fit to be an actress." But with Boy managing her, who knows what will happen next?

FOUR HOUSEMATES will be evicted tonight from PBB Teen Clash of 2010. The 8 nominated housemates are Carson, Richard, Sophia, Angelo, Kazel, Ivan, Tricia and Yen. Find out who among them will say goodbye tonight. In the Dakilang Hamon challenge, the mothers who acted as kasambahays lost as they were prematurely discovered by the other housemates as the true moms of Angelo and Devon. But thanks for the sacrifice of the Pinoy teen housemates who played the hula hoop nonstop for 24 hours, Angelo still wins the prize, which is a scholarship. The Teenternational housemates also get to dub an anime, Hana Yori Dango, that make fun of their Pinoy counterparts.

Wonder how the Pinoy housemates would react to this. Meantime, two housemates, Tricia and Devon both celebrate their birthdays. Tricia will have a masquerade party while original Villa housemate Devon will have a Cosplay theme party. All the other housemates will have to choose just one where they'll attend. So which one will be better attended: Tricia's or Devon's. Find out in Mariel's Uber, Toni's primetime Teen Clash of 2010 and Bianca's Updates, with live streaming at pinoybigbrother.com.
