He's glad to do action in "Elias Paniki". "I play a soldier who's given the birtud ng paniki, giving me super powers that enable me to fight a terrifying sorcerer who sow terror in our town."
In line with ABS-CBN's thrust of building up more new stars, two fresh faces are given good breaks as Jake's leading ladies in the show: Sam Pinto from PBB Double Up and model Kelly Misa who's now a "Wowowee" host. Sam has earlier admitted she got disappointed when Jake, after being nice to her, suddenly became cold to her when he joined showbiz. "But nagkausap na kami since then and I'm happy to be working with him now," she says.
"I'm also very glad na makasama si Sam dito," adds Jake. "When I found out about this, I even called her up to say na, O, magkasama pala tayo sa 'Elias Paniki'. No one knows me better than Sam kasi nga kilala ko na siya bago pa ako nag-showbiz. We were models then. I was 16 and she's 14. Na-reject pa nga akong maging partner niya in a print ad. Now that she's also into acting, I'm elated I'm given the chance to be her leading man."
