Katrina Halili presses on with court hearing

FREEHAND by Mario E. Bautista

KATRINA HALILI is now at home again with the press, unlike when her sex video with Hayden Kho has just been exposed and she was so fidgety when being interviewed. What can she say about Hayden going abroad and traveling with Dr. Vicki Belo to Europe? "Advice ng lawyer ko, not to comment na lang at baka makaapekto sa kaso ko against him," she says.

And what about the libel case she filed against Hayden's mom being approved by the court? No joke naman ang pinagdaanan ko, but we have to move on naman, di ba? Ayoko basta magpatalo sa ginawa nilang pang-aapak sa akin."

In the trailer of "Langit sa Piling Mo", that starts airing tonight at 6 PM, there's a scene where she pushes Heart Evangelista into the swimming pool. So she's back to full villain mode here? "Yes, maldita to the max na naman ako rito.

DIRECTOR CHITO RONO says that Lea Salonga was his first consideration for the role of Yaya Amelia in "Emir". "But she's so busy so we thought of other name stars like Sarah Geronimo or KC Concepcion, pero problema din ang schedule nila. I want someone who can devote her undivided time and attention to the project so we opted to audition for someone na babagay sa role. Sa auditions, si Frencheska Farr talaga ang swak sa character so we got her. She'll amaze you with her performance as a singer and as an actress. She works with an ensemble of singer-actresses na kilala sa theatre and singing, like Dulce, Liezl Batucan of Repertory, Melanie Dujunco, Bayang Barrios, Julia Clarete, pero hindi siya nagpaiwan sa kanila. Kaya bumilib talaga ako kay Frencheska kasi she was able to stand on her own. Nagawa rin niya ang gusto, maging natural lang, hindi umaarte, even in the scenes na 40 plus na ang age niya. She shows sincerity as an actress and as a singer. May puso, makikita mo sa mata niya."

Frencheska was astounded by the praises heaped on her. Inaamin ko namang I felt I didn't deserve the role kasi wala akong acting experience. So ayun.

IN GMA FILMS' "Batanes", Joem Bascon played Iza Calzado's husband and Coco Martin just supported him in a minor role. They're now both with ABS and Coco has become a big star because of his exposure in "Tayong Dalawa" and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo". Coco now produces the film "Noy". He also plays the title role and Joem supports him as his crippled brother who becomes a burden in their family.

Joem admits that when "Noy" was first offered to him, he thought it's a campaign movie for new Pres. Noynoy Aquino. "But when I read the script, I realized it tries to show the reality situation ng mga kababayan nating dumaranas ng labis na paghihirap. So tinanggap ko and I got inspired doing the movie kasi kaeksena ko rito si Coco and Ms. Cherry Pie Picache as our mother. Pareho silang magagaling, award-winners, tinitingala ko, kaya dapat, I should give my best kahit sobrang kaba ko pag kaeksena ko sila. And to think ang location namin, sa isang lugar na hindi bumababa ang tubig baha kaya malamok. But 'Noy', which opens in theaters on June 5, is also about hope.
About his lovelife, Joem is open about his romance with Meryll Soriano even if those who help him tell him that his affair with the single mom is not at all helping boost his career.
