MIRIAM QUIAMBAO is glad that her December 2004 Boracay wedding to Claudio Rondinelli has finally been annulled. Miriam admits that she felt their wedding won't click even before their wedding day but she couldn't back out anymore. "I felt ayaw naman niya talaga pakasal but he agreed kasi he wanted to make me happy, but both of us were not ready."
She denies that Claudio hurt her physically. "Only emotionally," she said. She also denies that he's gay. Financially, he took good care of her. "I could buy anything I wanted, but money cannot buy love and happiness."
She felt emotionally abandoned and neglected that she contemplated on committing suicide due to depression, but the voice of the Holy Spirit saved her. Now, she has a new boyfriend. It's Jesus."
We've known Miriam even before she became 1999 Miss Universe 1st runnerup. She and her boyfriend then, Martin Bernardo, were members of the Ligaya ng Panginoon Catholic community and they attended the marriage preparation seminar called Discovery Weekend of the Center for Family Ministries. Shortly after that, Miriam became Bb. Pilipinas and later joined showbiz. Her life changed and we later heard she broke up with Martin, who's now married to a lovely girl aptly named Pretty. They have a son and they're also very active as volunteers in the Discovery Weekend handling the topic, Confidence and Dialogue. Martin is such a responsible, God-fearing man. We sometimes wonder: what if he and Miriam didn't part? Well, maybe they're really not meant for each other.
