Vhong Navarro admires Anne Curtis

EXACTLY 17 year ago, Director Chito Rono put up the Streetboys. One the members is a gangly 16-year old boy, Ferdinand Navarro, who'd be better known as Vhong. He's now the most successful Streetboy who's not only into dancing but also acting, hosting ("It's Showtime"), and singing. Five of Vhong's hit novelty songs ("Pamela Wan", "Mr. Papabol", "Chickboy", "Totoy Bibbo", and "Don Romantiko") are included in the 15th anniversary CD of Star Records, "I.Star Best of Dance/Novelty". Only two of Willie Revillame's songs are in the album, "Boom Tarat Tarat" and "Wowowee". Writers present at the album launch say it's obvious who's more important toABS-CBN now that the ratings of "Showtime" are often higher than that of "Wowowee". Is it true he has requested management that they exchange timeslots?

"Naku, hindi po," says Vhong. "I respect Kuya Willie, lagi akong nagbibigay-pugay dun."


Did he have an inkling "Showtime" will this big a hit? "No, kasi parang experiment lang ito ni Direk Bobet Vidanes. Pantapat sa talk shows in the late morning slot. Ako rin, nagulat nang maging toprater ito."

It's said that his chemistry with Anne Curtis in the show is so great that people won't be surprised if he'd woo her.

"Maganda talaga si Anne and it's so easy to fall for her. Pero hanggang paghanga lang ako. Hindi ako papasa doon, di naman ako kamukha nina Richard Gutierrez at Sam Milby. Pag alam kong malabo, di ako nanliligaw kasi masakit mabasted. At ayoko ring magalit sa'kin ang fans ng love team nila ni Sam. Isa pa, I'm with someone now na non-showbiz. One year na kami. She's very understanding at tanggap niya I have two sons, Bruno who's first year high school in June and Ice who'd be in grade 6."
