Richard and Anne back together in a movie

FREEHAND by Mario E. Bautista

RICHARD GUTIERREZ and Anne Curtis are back from shooting their first teamup, "In Your Eyes", in California. They were interviewed on "Showbiz Central" and Anne admitted for the first time that they had a bad break up when they went steady four years ago. "I hated him for one and a half years after that," she says. "We needed space muna from each other, but now, ok na kami."

"I was really excited when I first learned we'll finally do a movie together," says Richard. "Tapos, shot in L.A. pa. We bonded quite well, along with Claudine Barretto."

"Kapag hindi take, chikahan lang kami," says Anne. "We had a great time working together and got to know each other better."

Did she and Claudine see Richard's rumored girlfriend, Jewel Mische, in L.A.? "No, we never saw her," they both replied.

And what can Anne say about the report that her ex, Sam Milby, is now playing beautiful music with singer Marie Digby? "I'm happy for them, I wish them well, Marie, you got a good man in Sam."

How about Richard, what can he say about the dismissal of the reckless imprudence case against him filed by Lorayne Pardo? "The DOJ's decision is final and they declared I'm really not guilty. I'm happy na wala na kong ganyang struggles in my life, but it's sad umabot pa sa ganito kasi ever since, willing akong tulungan sina Lorayne at pag-aralin ang mga anak niya. Nagdemanda pa sila."

MANY STARS now based in California were tracked down by "Showbiz Central". Starstruck 1 alumnus Christian Esteban has finished master in fine arts at the New York Film Academy and has directed an indie film. He's now also an intern at NBC and with Sci-Fi Productions. He says he wants to come back here and direct Iza Calzado who he finds so talented. Former Sexbomb dancer Jacque Estevez has finished nursing, passed the state board and is now a registered nurse. Former sexpot-comedian Amanda Page is now a practice management consultant. She was last seen in local showbiz 10 years ago. She says she won't go back to showbiz anymore as she's contented with her life in the U.S. "I enjoy what I do here now," she adds. She also revealed that she married a Pinoy psychiatrist who's based in Ventura County, California last January at the Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park and they had their reception at Makati Shangrila. "He's my rock," she says. "He makes me feel very safe. When we retire, we intend to go back to the Philippines."

REGINE VELASQUEZ and Ogie Alcasid just got back from their one-month U.S. concert tour, but Ogie is leaving again this week to visit daughters Leila and Sarah in Australia. Regine won't be able to join him since she's busy taping again for her hit kantaserye, "Diva". "Na-miss ko rin umacting kaya arteng-arte na rin ako uli sa harap ng kamera," she says. "Nakakatuwa lang as we're able to maintain our high ratings kahit gumanda na si Sam at hindi na pangit."

Regine is glad that after Richard Gutierrez, she now gets to invite brother Raymond to also guest in "Diva" this week. Raymond doesn't really want to act in a teleserye but Regine persuaded him that he'll only be playing himself as a TV host. He then enjoyed the experience especially after the staff told him he handled all his scenes well. He interviews Regine as Sam who is now known as the pretty singer Melody and is well on her way to superstardom.

BIANCA KING took the lie detector in John Lapus' Don't Lie to Me segment. Last week, Aljur Abrenica, to whom she plays contravida in "The Last Prince", took the same test and was asked if he's wooing Bianca. He said no and it's a lie. This time, Bianca is asked the same question. She said no and it's also a lie. Bianca insisted the lie detector is wrong. "Never pa kaming lumabas, never kaming nagte-text sa isa't isa, nagkikita lang kami sa taping ng 'The Last Prince'. Hindi niya ko talaga nililigawan." Dahil sa tsismis, nag-iiwasan nga ba kayo ni Aljur sa set ng "The Last Prince"? She said no and it's true. Was there a time na gusto mong sugurin si Suzette Ranillo after iutos niyang ilabas ang mga gamit mo sa set ng "Wapakman"? She said no and it's a lie. Bianca says she feels sad that "The Last Prince", where she plays the witch Bawana, is ending in two weeks. "But I'm happy kasi we ran for seven months at laging mataas ang rating namin." One very important question Sweet should have asked Bianca is if it's true she had a conflict with Heart Evangelista because of Ampalaya Anonymous. That's one opportunity missed indeed.

JOSHUA DIONISIO and Barbie Forteza confess they got scared of Eddie Garcia who co-stars with them in "Pilyang Kerubin". Why? Is it because Eddie is the Angel of Death in the show? "No, although scary rin siya sa projection niya as that character," says Joshua. "Ang nakakatakot is yung kaeksena mo itong ganito kahusay na aktor. Kumpara sa kanyang accomplishments sa industry, sino ba naman kami, di ba?"

"Kasi veteran actor siya," adds Barbie. "Bago pa yata panganak kahit parents namin, uma-acting na siya, so may pressure talaga kapag kaeksena mo siya. Kailangang paghusayan talaga namin ni Joshua para hindi niya kami lamunin. Nakaka-challenge for you to give your best in your scenes with him."

They're happy that the first week of "Pilyang Kerubin" got very positive feedback. "Lahat ng nakapanood, nagandahan," says Joshua. "Kami mismo, hindi namin akalain na ganun kaganda, lalo na yung scenes shot in Batanes nina Ryan Yllana na kunwari heaven. Sayang nga, hindi kami nakasama roon ni Barbie para nakita na rin namin ang Batanes."

PILIPINAS GOT TALENT had its results night last Sunday. The winner is 16 year old pint-sized Batanagas siomai vendor who's a hit on youtube singing Arnel Pineda's "Faithfully", Jovit Baldivino. He won P2 million cash as his prize. Judge Kris Aquino is confident he'd be a big star to be paired with Sarah Geronimo. The biggest drawback of Jovit is he's only about 5 feet tall. Any leading lady will be taller than him, except for Charice Pempengco who's also diminutive like him. We remember Gerald Santos who won in "Pinoy Pop Superstar". He's even better looking than Jovit, but he never really soared to superstardom as he's also vertically challenged. It's okay for females to be midgets, just like Ate Guy, but for guys, it'd be really an uphill battle to be that short. Even Ogie Alcasid and Janno Gibbs are not that small.
