CLAUDINE BARRETTO admits she felt ill at ease when she did an intimate love scene with Richard in “In Your Eyes”. “I saw him and his brother Raymond as kids dahil we used to go sa bahay nila sa White Plains at naghahanda pa ng food si Tita Annabelle for us, tapos ngayon makaka-love scene ko na, so nakakailang talaga,” she says. “Ganun din naman si Anne (Curtis). I saw her as a child star, ngayon sisters na kami. But I really enjoyed working with both of them. Pareho silang magaling, very professional and both dedicated to their craft kaya confident ako na we have a very good film that will surely please viewers.”
Richard himself confesses that he wasn’t that comfortable with Claudine at first. “But she reached out to us ni Anne so we felt more at home with each other’s company in no time at all,” he says. “Naging maganda ang bonding naming tatlo especially when we shot key scenes in the States for more than a week.”
Claudine requested that no question about her sister Gretchen be asked during the “In Your Eyes” presscon and her wish was granted. “I’m confident maaayos din whatever problem we have at kung may magsasalita pa, it’ll only worsen things so huwag na lang.”
She said she’s done films similar to the story of “In Your Eyes” before and she mentioned “Dubai” and “Kailangan Kita”, but the movie that really resembles this one is “Soltera”, where she and Maricel Soriano fought for the love of Diether Ocampo. That time, she played the younger woman. This time, she’s now the older one.

JUST BECAUSE they were on once doesn’t mean having love scenes with Richard in “In Your Eyes” is easier for Anne Curtis.
“It’s so unnerving as on our first day of shooting, first scene naming, Direk Mac Alejandre required us to kiss agad. We were taken by surprise at kinabahan talaga ko’t pinawisan. I really felt awkward but I had to do it as an actress. Direk Mac said the scene means to show how carefree and free-spirited my character as Julia is. Buti na lang, Richard promised me na aalalayan niya ko so we were able to do that scene well. We were so young ng mag-on kami and we’re different persons now. Even with Ate Claudine, kabado ako kasi first movie naming and I idolize her so much. I saw all her movies at dream ko talaga to work with her someday, so when it’s finally granted, I was nervous at first but she’s really so nice in our scenes together and I learned so much from her lalo na sa scenes na puno ng iyakan.”

JENNYLYN MERCADO says Patrick Garcia should thank Dennis Trillo for advising her to finally let him see their son, Alex Jazz. “Dennis is a good man at maganda ang influence niya sa buhay ko,” says Jen at her launch as the first endorser of F/X Fashion Exchange, a direct selling multi-level marketing company. “Tahimik lang siya at mahaba ang pasensiya. That’s what he has taught me: how to be more patient, and also more forgiving.”
Has she asked for financial support from Patrick? “We weren’t able to talk at all as it’s the birthday party of Kendra, the daughter of his sister Cheska. It’s not the right place and time. But hopefully we can talk about that later. I’m sure he’d want to help naman in rearing his son, just like what Dennis is doing with his own son.”
She now feels more at peace after forgiving Patrick and as a result, good karma continues to come her way. She’s doing a new movie where she plays the title role, “Rosario”, a Metro filmfest entry, and she’s in a new soap, the remake of “Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig” where she reprises the role originally played by Vilma Santos. “At ngayon, may bago pa siyang endorsement, itong F/X Foreign Exchange,” adds her manager Becky Aguila. “Its president, Mrs. Asuncion Yu, especially chose her as she’s the perfect model for their clothes, shoes and bags. If you want to be a member and earn on your own, just call them 521-2989 or 995-7478. They now have branches all over the country.”

WE ASK Luis Manzano what happened to his dad Edu after losing in the election. “I’m sure my dad will bounce back as he is a fighter,” he says on the set of his movie with Sarah Geronimo, “Hating Kapatid”. “Siempre, masakit dahil he invested so much time and effort in the campaign in his desire to help our countrymen. He’s just taking a breather right now but I’m sure he’ll return after resting, kahit as a game show as his fans tell me they miss his wit and charm on TV.”
How about his mom Gov. Vi? “I’m very proud of her and my stepdad (Sen. Ralph Recto) as they really have so many plans to help other people. Yun nga lang, bihira kami magkita as I’m doing two movies right now. Aside from ‘Hating Kapatid’, I also play the love interest of Vice Ganda in ‘Petrang Kabayo’. I also have a new daily show, ‘Panahon Ko To’ with Billy Crawford then I’m doing ‘E Live’ pa on Saturday and ASAP on Sunday. So wala akong day off and I really work every single day of the week.”
He has also invested in the taxi business with friends Bong and Ron. “When you see a cab named LBR, sa amin yun. We now have 72 units.”
He won an award doing drama in “In My Life”. He now does comedy in both “Hating Kapatid” and “Petrang Kabayo”. How was it working Sarah? “Duty ko sa ASAP every Sunday na kulitin si Sarah kasi bungisngis siya. So now, sa shooting, nate-take 5 kami kasi kahit seryoso ang scene, natatawa kami. We’re really so comfortable na with each other.”
Will he have a love scene with Vice Ganda in “Petrang Kabayo”? Wag naman. I already did that with John Lloyd Cruz sa ‘In My Life’. Tama na yun.”
Is he now on again with Angel Locsin? “We both have unbelievably busy work sked so dun muna kami. But I did call her para batiin siya when won as number one sa FHM which she really well deserves.”

ON THE SET of “Pilyang Kerubin”, we learned that Angelika de la Cruz, who plays Melissa, the mom of Barbie Forteza, is reeling from one family problem after another. After her brother Edward’s untimely demise in an accident, her dad Ernie was rushed to the Lung Center due to pneumonia and followed by her brother Erick who had to be operated on due to collapsed lungs. “I feel numbed na dahil sunod-sunod talaga ang pagsubok sa amin,” she says. “But I have to be strong for our family.”
In “Showbiz Central” last Sunday, she said her dad has recovered and been released from the hospital. But her brother is confined for further observation. She’s thankful to all her Kapuso and Kapamilya colleagues for lending her a helping hand in shouldering her huge hospital bills.
