THE blind item that the eldest daughter of a singer-actor and his actress wife is already infanticipating has been circulating for sometime. Janno Gibbs became a prime suspect when he posted in his Facebook account that he’s not yet ready to be a granddad. He was finally asked about it by Showbiz Central and he denied it. “That’s not true, walang katotohanan yan,” he said.
How come Bing got annoyed when asked about it at the inauguration of Pres. Noynoy Aquino? “Naglalakad lang kasi siya tapos na-ambush interview so mali siguro yung way of asking the question,” he says. “Basta our daughter Alyssa is not pregnant.”

JUDY ANN SANTOS have formed a mutual admiration club for each other. Both say they feel so honored getting the chance to work as sisters in “Hating Kapatid”. “At first, Sarah doesn’t talk, akala ko pipi siya,” says Juday. “But once she did, she opened up at may mga sekreto pa she shared with me.”
They’re both breadwinners for their respective families. “It’s a privilege to do that for your loved ones,” says Sarah. “Ang mai-share ko ang kita ko sa family ko at mapag-aral ang mga kapatid ko. Pareho kami ni Ate Juday na happy na nakakatulong kami sa magulang at kapatid namin.”
How is it working with their leading men, JC De Vera for Juday and Luis Manzano for Sarah? “JC is like Sarah, hindi nagsasalita,” says Juday. “Pero dahil mas bata siya sa’kin, he adjusted himself to his character para magmukha kaming magka-edad.”
“Si Luis, napakasayang katrabaho,” says Sarah. “Napakabait, very caring na leading man, natural na komedyante, makulit at nadadala niya sa screen ang kakulitan niya. We all enjoyed working with each other.”

MAXENE MAGALONA is currently being linked to Dominic Roco, her constant date after JC Tiuseco. This started when they were seen together attending the premiere night of “Pendong”, which starred Felix, Dominic’s twin brother. More recently, they were a twosome again at the best dressed affair of a glossy magazine.
“I was invited, so I went, wala naman sigurong masama roon,” says Maxene. “But Dom and I are really just friends. Nagsimula ang friendship namin when we did the Cinemalaya entry, ‘Rekrut’, about new soldiers in Mindanao. Huwag na lang bigyan ng ibang kulay ang friendship namin.”
Maxene is just too happy now that her new soap with child wonder Jillian Ward, “Trudis Liit”, is rating very high. “Jillian is really lovable on and off cam. She’s so sympathetic you’d really want to follow what happens to her, lalo ngayong paganda ng paganda ang story ng ‘Trudis Liit’.”

JOHN LLOYD CRUZ says that he won’t ever work with GF Shaina Magdayao to maintain the privacy of their love affair. “We both don’t like it,” he adds. “It’s not an option.”
He’s now paired with Angel Locsin in “Imortal” and we think ABS itself doesn’t believe forming a love team with Shaina will be that hot. Maybe if they admitted it earlier and did not hide their relationship. Many of his fans don’t think he’s “bagay” with Shaina. Many of them want instead to see the final instalment of his movie series with Sarah Geronimo.

FRANCIS XAVIER PASION’s debut film about TV journalism, “Jay”, won several awards including Cinemalaya best film. He now comes up with his second Cinemalaya entry, “Sampaguita, National Flower”, a docu-drama co-produced by Atty. Joji Alonso’s Quantum Films about the lives of children who sell sampaguita garlands. First is Ronalyn Ramos, an 11 year old girl who plucks sampaguita flowers from the farm in Pampanga to earn money for school. Next is Reynalyn Bunag, a 10-year old battered child vendor in Quiapo who’s about to be taken away by social workers from her abusive mom. Then there’s Rinalyn Bernardo, a 10 year old who sells sampaguita on Tomas Morato Ave. with her four year old sister, Maya, who doesn’t talk. The last one is a little boy vendor, Marlon, who’s celebrating his birthday and wants to have a cake. The children were recruited after Francis, who directs “Your Song” on ABS, interviewed several actual vendors.
“This is much more to difficult to do than ‘Jay’, which is my world as it’s about TV,” says the 32-year old Francis who’s a cum laude communication arts grad from Ateneo. “This time, hindi ko mundo ito. The sampaguita as a national symbol represents our nation but if you’d discover the personal stories of children involved in the sampaguita industry, you’d wonder if it really represents our identity as a people as it presents the true conditions in our country. The film shows what happens to the flowers from the time they’re harvested in the province and sold in the streets. You’ll never look at a sampaguita vendor again the way you do now after watching this film.” “Sampaguita” will have its gala night on Monday, 6 PM, at the CCP.

EX-LOVERS Mariel Rodriguez and Zanjoe Marudo are both in the presscon of the horror quintet, “Cinco”, but they appear in different episodes. Mariel is in “Mukha” as a mean bitch of a boss who is haunted by an old employee she oppressed, while Zanjoe appears in “Puso”, a love triangle story with Pokwang and Bangs Garcia. It’s obvious they’re not comfortable in each other’s presence and were seated far away from each other during the Q&A. Writers were warned not to ask any personal questions but when the cast was asked about the law of karma (which is the film’s theme), Mariel gave an answer that is obviously an allusion to Zanjoe. “I believe that when a door closes, a window opens. Kapag hindi ka pinalad sa isang aspeto ng buhay mo, may magandang kapalit naman yun sa ibang bagay. Like ngayon, I’m so happy sa career opportunities na dumarating sa’kin.”
The other episodes in “Cinco” are “Braso” with AJ Perez, Sam Concepcion and Robi Domingo, “Mata” with Rayver Cruz and Maja Salvador, and “Paa” with Jodi Sta. Maria. It opens nationwide on July 14.
