IS MARICEL Soriano really not close to Elijah, the son of her niece Meryll and Bernard Palanca? “Naku, Lola 2 nga ang tawag sa’kin noon,” she says. “Ang guwapo ng bagets. Nakakatuwa. Siempre, ang Lola 1, si Mama Bec ni Meryll, kaya 2 lang ako.”
She’ll be seen in GMA-7’s “Pilyang Kerubin” starting tonight. Why did she accept doing a guest role for two weeks? “Una, reunited ako sa favorite director ko, Maryo de los Reyes. Tapos, ay, ang ganda ng role as Regina. Ngayon ko pa lang nagawa. Dati kong mayaman pero naghirap. Namatay ang isang daughter ko and the older one, naampon ng isang mayaman. Napatira ako sa sementeryo sa may puntod ng anak ko, kaya sa North Cemetery ang set namin. Nag-aalaga ako ng streetchildren. My only wish in life is to be reconciled sa natitira kong anak, pero ayaw niya sa’kin kasi iniwan ko raw siya. Si Barbie Forteza as Charity ang tutulong sa’kin.”
What does she think of Barbie as Pilyang Kerubin? “Ay, kagandang bata. Angelic talaga. At magaling siya, ha. Naku, ang mga anak ko dati, sina Angelica Panganiban at Shaina Magdayao, ngayon, matangkad pa sa’kin. Napag-iwanan ako. Unfair.”
Does this mean she’ll now move to GMA? “Secret. Malay natin. Baka masundan itong guesting ko sa kanila. Pero may offer din sa’kin ang TV5 to do a sitcom with Roderick Paulate at may movie rin ako with Dick for APT Entertainment, ‘Si Maria at si Petra sa Italia’, kukunan sa Italy, directed by Soxie Topacio. Tiyak masaya yun.”
About her personal life, she enjoys being mom to Marron, 23, and Tien, 17. “Si Marron, may girlfriend na, mama rin ang tawag sa’kin. Inaasikaso ko naman, kasama naming lumalabas. Si Tien, wala pa, crushes pa lang. Happy ako ngayon sa mga anak ko na siyang lagi kong ka-date.”

THE HUSBAND of a top actress confided his feelings about their marital breakup to someone who’s his kababayan. This someone is now so mad at the actress as it’s clear she took advantage of the guy. In effect, this is what the guy revealed: “All my earnings, napupunta sa kanya, pati yung sa endorsements. Binibigyan lang ako ng allowance. Kung minsan nga, gusto kong tulungan ang parents ko sa probinsiya, pero ayaw niya kong bigyan ng pera. Noong kampanya, sinama ko ng sinama sa rally. Yung iba, binabayaran nila, pero ako hindi. Nang matapos ang election at manalo sila, nagulat ako, bigla akong iniwan at nakipahiwalay na sa akin.” His friend says the guy now feels that he has just been suddenly dumped after being used.

YOUNG JV KAPUNAN has released his first commemorative album, “Ready Or Not”, that contains his own composition, “Lipad Noypi, Lipad Noynoy”, for our new president. His songs carries messages of nationalism and reconciliation, a legacy from his dad, Col. Eduardo “Red” Kapunan of the RAM (Reform the Armed Forces Movement) who supported the late Pres. Cory Aquino. It was JV’s first time to vote last May and he chose Noynoy, singing in his rallies about peace, hope, and harmony. “Ready Or Not” is produced by Doing It Big Production and released by PolyEast Records.

MARIAN Rivera and Dingdong Dantes are grinning from ear to ear as “Endless Love” has consistent high ratings and has hit number one in Mega-Manila. The ratings soared higher when Jenny and Johnny grew up and became Marian and Dong. Johnny turns out be engaged already to Yumi (Bella Padilla, former Krista Valle of ABS) but he continues to search for her long lost “sister”, Jenny, who’s now being oppressed by abusive brother Gabby Eigenmann. “We feel very blessed sa suportang binibigay sa amin ng viewers,” says Marian. “At least, endless pa rin ang love nila sa love team namin.”
“Kasi they can see endless talaga ang love natin for each other,” Dong quips.

After being paired with John Prats in “Bud Brothers” and Will Devaugh in “You’re Mine Only Mine”, she’s now with Rafael Rosell in “Midnight Phantom” that starts today at 5:30 PM. “Kabado ko kasi Rafael’s tandem with Mariel Rodriguez in ‘PHR’ was such a hit, but with Cathy Molina directing us, I’m confident viewers will also support us. I play Nadja, the stepdaughter of Ina Raymundo. Fan ako ni Rafael as Brandon, a midnight DJ. I fall for him and he takes me to Phantom Island, without me knowing na may dark past pala siya with Ina and wants to hurt me to take vengeance on her. It’s not your typical romance. Drama-suspense ang treatment, plus may hot loves scenes kami ni Rafael, so I’m sure viewers will get hooked watching it. Demanding ang role for me as Nadja is naïve and grew up well protected. Ako, I have a strong personality talaga and I’ve always been very independent so the character isn’t me at all.”

THE CAST of “Langit sa Piling Mo” had a great time bonding with each other while taping the show on location in Cebu. “There’s nothing like travelling together for you to get to know each other better,” says lead actress Heart Evangelista. “Dahil dito, mas naging close kami sa isa’t isa. We’ll be taping daw in other cities pa so we look forward to that. As of now, mas kumapal na ang story. I go to Cebu to look for my missing sister, si Ryza Cenon as Candy, na I didn’t know, mistress pala ni Tonton Gutierrez na father ni Katrina Halili. I thought Katrina as Aurora has changed at bumait na. What I didn’t know is that she ordered Marco Morales as Warren to rape me. Daniel Matsunaga naman as Xavier also falls in love with me, kaya lang best friend niya si Mark Herras as Rigo so he’s hesitant to express his feelings for me.”
