PIA GUANIO finally talked about her rumored breakup with Vic Sotto in last Sunday’s “Showbiz Central” and this is what she said: “You have nothing to worry about Vic and I as we’re really okay. We’re good even in our working relationship in ‘Eat Bulaga’. But just like any relationship, we have our ups and downs, we went through some rough patches, so I had to keep quiet as I want to fix it muna. We’re now in the process of doing it. Kumbaga sa kalye, we’re under construction. We ask you to give us more time, be patient, it’s something that we will not throw away in one go. That’s all I have to say.”
Vic Sotto then spoke in a phone-patch conversation, cracking jokes along the way. “As Pia said, we’re good, we’re okay. Ang mga ispekulasyon na yan, nakakagulo lang sa isang relasyon. We have differences pero kaya naman naming ayusin. We don’t consider it a major problem. Konting tampuhan lang ito na pinalaki.”

CLAUDINE BARRETTO co-hosted “Showbiz Central” last Sunday and she took the lie detector test with husband Raymart Santiago. Instead of host John Lapus questioning them, they questioned each other. Raymart was the first to ask: “May crush ka pa rin ba sa’kin gaya ng dati?” Claudine said no and it’s a lie. “Akala ko kasi, siya na ang may crush sa’kin,” she said later. “Di at least ngayon, nalaman kong crush ko pa pala siya.” Claudine: Nagselos ka ba kay Richard Gutierrez sa hot love scene namin sa ‘In Your Eyes’? Raymart said yes and it’s true. “Seloso ka pala,” said Claudine. “Di ko alam yun.” To which Raymart quipped: “Gaganti na lang ako, hahalikan ko rin si Richard.” Raymart: “Sumagi ba sa isip mo na niloko na kita?” Claudine said no and it’s true. “Malalim ang respeto namin sa isa’t isa,” she said. Claudine: “Sa tingin mo, gusto ko pang mag-celebrate ng birthday natin (they have the same birthday, July 20, today), sa kabila ng pinagdaraanan natin ngayon?” Raymart said yes and it’s true. It’s later revealed that the wife of the pastor who married them just died due to breast cancer. They’re very close to the couple who as their marital counsellors. “Our marriage is not perfect and they help us,” said Claudine. Both she and Raymart cried on cam.

HEART EVANGELISTA just renewed her contract with GMA-7 for another year. Speculations that she had a rift with Annabelle Rama who brought her to GMA were quelled because Annabelle was there as her manager during the contract signing. The latest story now is that Heart’s mom wants to drop Annabelle to save on the commissions she gets from Heart, but there’s still existing contract between them so she can’t be dumped that easily. Heart has had four regular shows since she moved to GMA: “Asero”, “Luna Mystika”, “Ngayon at Kailanman” and “Full House”. She’s now on her fifth, “Langit sa Piling Mo”, that’s rating so well it has beat the competition.
She and other cast members just returned from Cebu where they shot some key scenes. What can she say to her leading man Mark Herras’ statement that he’d woo her if they’re not on with Ynna Asistio and her non-showbiz BF Ian Dy?
“Talaga? Sinabi niya yun? Naku, malabong mangyari yun. Kasama ko si Ynna sa Party Pilipinas and we get along fine. Pero sa ‘Langit sa Piling Mo’, on na ang characters namin as Marj and Rigo. Alam na niyang my brother Jay Aquitania as Felix tried to carnap his car and he helps me look for my sister Ryza Cenon as Joy. Si Marco Morales naman as Warren, who tried to rape me, arranges a meeting with us to reveal Katrina Halili just ordered him to do it, but somebody kills him.”

We just notice that the entries in the new breed category this year are not as good as those of previous years.
Most of the entries suffer from scripts that lack proper narrative development and character definition. They also favor abrupt endings where you wonder if they ran out of budget and can’t shoot anymore so they just left the story hanging on the air with no adequate closure. But it’s to the credit of most Pinoy actors that despite the underwritten scripts, they still give creditable performances.
