Sharon in MegaDrama

FREEHAND by Mario E. Bautista

SHARON CUNETA has never been as candid and riotous as she was in her presscon for her Araneta Coliseum concert on August 7, 8PM. It’s titled “MegaDrama” but what Sharon showed at the presscon was her natural flair for comedy. It made her look like a standup comic on stage sending the writers present rolling down the aisle with her hilarious remarks. Someone says: About your ex? “Sino to?” she retorts. “Marami kong ex, e.”

Gabby Concepcion. What can she say he now has an album and also has his own concerts? “Well, maganda naman yung feeling na, somehow, may natutuhan pala siya sa’kin.”

Which of her songs will she sing for him? “Wala na lang. Hindi naman bagay sa kanya ang ‘Bituing Walang Ningning’, ‘Pangarap Kong Bituin’, o ‘Sana Wala Nang Wakas’.”

Will she do a concert with him? “Huwag na. Mamaya, made-develop na naman sakin yan. Halata kong may crush pa siya sa’kin. Kawawa naman ang family niya. Pero aminin nyo, kaming pinaka-cute sa naging pamilya niya. Totoo naman yun, di ba? Maski isa-isahin mo sila. Si KC, ganyan kaganda yan kasi akong nanay. Naku, ano ba tong nangyari sa’kin? May sapi yata ako. Sabi ko pa naman I’ll be proper,” she says laughing.

Charice had Botox to make her face look slimmer. Will she also do it? “Minsan na kong nagpa-Botox at hindi maganda epekto. If I look young now, it’s in the genes I got from my mom who looks young. But I also got the fat genes from her. Pero kung yung Botox, talagang nakakapayat, sige iinom ako. Ilang balde?”

What else is new with her? “Papayat na ako. Pero si Kiko, kinikilig sa body ko ngayon. Titingnan ako and he’ll say: I love it! May ganyan pa siya. Ang goal ko, pumayat before my birthday (January 6) kaya dahan-dahan yan. Kaya lang kawawa naman sina Ann Curtis, Bea Alonzo at ang anak ko kapag pumayat na ako, kasi ako na lang ang magkakaroon ng karapatang magpa-sexy. My target is to be borderline anorexic. Yung ako pang pipilitin nyong ‘Sharon, kumain ka naman.’”

What can she say about Piolo Pascual’s alleged son calling KC names on the internet? “I think si Piolo ang dapat magsalita to protect KC. How old is the boy? 13? I can’t comment on him dahil di ko alam kung paano siya pinalaki. But then di mo masisisi yung bata kasi even KC, noong maliit pa, she kept on praying magkabalikan kami ng dad niya. But of course, I’ll have to defend my daughter as I tried to raise her well. When she was about to visit her dad then noong married pa kay Jenny (Syquia), I told her to be respectful to Jenny kasi she came after her dad and I have separated. Jenny wrote me later to say KC has no bitterness in her heart and thanked me for raising her well. So sana, tantanan na nila ang anak ko kasi she’s never officially on naman with Piolo. It’s also unfair to call her names and it hurts kasi desenteng bata si KC.”

About her MegaDrama concert that’s directed by Rowell Santiago, it will be a tribute to composers Ryan Cayabyab, Willy Cruz and the late George Canseco. “I’ll sing OPM songs all throughout, tamang-tama nga sa album ko with Sony BMG na ‘Musika at Pag-ibig’ that also pays tribute to OPM.”

Her guests in the concert are Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ai Ai de las Alas, Pokwang, Ogie Alcasid, with Judy Ann Santos as the narrator of the show that retells Sharon’s story as an actress, singer, mother, wife, daughter and friend. Presented by McDonald’s and Smart, MegaDrama is a production of Artist House. Tickets are available at Ticketnet, 911-5555. Sharon is also requesting all indie filmmakers to send her stories or scripts that will befit her and she’ll film the chosen ones. You can call Artist House for details at 817-4660, 815-1953.

RHIAN RAMOS is again receiving flak from her detractors since she has two new shows, the sitcom “Kaya ng Powers” that starts airing tonight at 7 PM, and the new primetime series, “Lumina”, where she plays title role who’s a sorceress. This allegedly shows she’s really influential with GMA-7 because her Aunt Ida Henares is head of GMA Artist Center. “Naku, I just don’t mind such comments,” she says. “Didn’t they notice na after ‘Stairway to Heaven’, ang tagal kong walang regular show? Whereas yung mga kasama ko roon, nagkaroon agad ng bagong shows, like Glaiza and TJ in ‘Diva’, Dingdong in ‘Endless Love’.

What can she say about JC De Vera’s statement that he wants to forget her totally? “I don’t want to say anything bad about him kahit nagugulat ako sa mga sinasabi raw niya against me.. Ang nakilala kong JC is humble, mabait, a gentleman, and that’s how I want to remember him.”

AFTER FIVE YEARS as a singer, Prince of Pop Erik Santos finally tries acting in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” tonight in a special episode where he plays an OFW who applies as a singer but ends up as a housekeeper at the plush Venetian Hotel in Macau. Directed by Mae Cruz, Erik is paired with Kristel Moreno and Paw Diaz, supported by Jojit Lorenzo. “This is my first acting job ever and I really enjoyed it,” he says. “I didn’t feel pressured kasi sobrang bait ni Direk Mae, very encouraging at magaling pa. With her help and the support of my co-stars, I hope I’m able to give justice to my role. Hindi naman ako masyadong nahirapan as acting pala is also like singing. You have to put the right emotions and passion to be able to enact every scene effectively.”

“For a first timer, Erik surely did a credible job,” says Direk Mae. “He’s able to prove he’s not only a good singer but also a good actor.”

Erik is now looking forward to more acting jobs and also continues to promote his album “Erik Santos: The Jim Brickman Song Book”. He’ll also record his repackaged Christmas album and is currently preparing for his big concert at the Meralco Theatre on September 24 and 25.
