Anne Curtis has hot love scenes with Richard

FREEHAND by Mario E. Bautista

ANNE CURTIS says that although she has known Richard Gutierrez since they were teenagers and they were even on for some time, she still felt uncomfortable when they started working together in GMA-Viva Films’ “In Your Eyes”. “I’ve done a love story before with him sa ‘Love to Love’ ng GMA but it’s very light compared o the story of ‘In Your Eyes’,” she says. “I know he does well in boy next door type of roles and as an action hero like Captain Barbell and Zorro, so I was wondering how he’d fare in a dramatic role ng isang lalaking naipit sa aming dalawa ni Ate Claudine na nagkataong sisters pa. I was thinking: Makaya kaya niya?”

And her verdict? “At first, kinakantiyawan siya sa set na husayan niya kasi nga kami ni Ate Claudine, pareho nang best actress winner. But in all fairness to Chard, definitely, nakaya niya. He’s a revelation and will surely now be considered as a serious drama actor after ‘In Your Eyes’. Ginulat niya hindi lang ako but also Ate Claudine and Direk Mac Alejandre. He’s really full of the right emotions in our dramatic confrontation scenes, lalo na nang sinusumbatan ko siya why he went to bed with sister. I’m sure he’d get positive notices for his performance here.”

There’s a rumor that Anne has broken up with non-showbiz BF Erwan Heusaff who got jealous because of her hot love scenes with Richard in “In Your Eyes”, but Anne won’t confirm it. Someone told us they didn’t really split. “Nagka-LQ lang, pero nagbati rin uli,” says our source.

ZOREN LEGASPI started as a teen star at Regal in 1989 doing youth flicks like “Student Body” and “Underage”. He later did action films. That time, he never thought he’d one day be a TV host who’d host a cooking show like “Kitchen Battles” on QTV 11 that will have its finals tonight at 7:45 PM, and now, a morning talk show on GMA-7, “Love ni Mister, Love ni Misis” with his longtime companion Carmina Villaroel that starts airing tomorrow at 9:45 AM.

“Actually, noon ko pa talaga dream maging host,” he says. “Finally heto at natupad din.” Carmina praises him profusely for being a great dad to their twins, Mavey and Cassie. “Hands on talaga ako as a dad as there was a time Mina was busy hosting ‘Sis’ daily kaya sa’kin naiiwan ang mga bata. Some friends were calling me a househusband but I don’t mind kasi enjoy ako being with our kids.”

Their kids have appeared in a lot of TV commercials so they must be earning well on their own. “We admit. Malaki na rin ang kinita nila and as a dad, it’s my obligation to take care of their earnings. We invested it in some properties for their future. I don’t want to see the day na sasabihin nila sa’king ‘Papa, nilustay mo lang pala ang pera namin.’ Wala kaming ginagalaw sa sarili nilang income.”

Is he willing to let them join showbiz? “It’s only Cassie na mahilig mag-artista. Si Maverick, mas sportsminded. He loves tennis and joins tennis competitions. One of these days, magiging guests namin sila in ‘Love ni Mister, Love ni Misis’. Meantime, don’t miss the final round of ‘Kitchen Battles’ to find out who’ll be the Ultimate Chef Warrior between finalists chefs Mark Gustilo and Arnold Bernardo.”

EUGENE DOMINGO is all over the place. She has “Mamarazzi” on the big screen and on TV, she has “Inday Wanda” on TV5 and in “Wachamakulit”, “Comedy Bar” and the new sitcom “Jejemom” on GMA-7. She has a presscon every week and the promos of her projects overlap, so we won’t be surprised if she herself gets confused with the various roles she plays. “Jejemom” replaces “Claudine” starting August 14, strengthening GMA-7’s Saturday comedy block as it comes right after the hit sitcom “Kaya ng Powers”. “In ‘Jejemom’, I play Gigi, a single mom na barangay secretary,” she says. “Naging star witness ako sa criminal activities ng crime boss na si Lady Gangsta at dahil sa’kin, all his cohorts were jailed kaya hinanting niya ko. The government puts me under the witness protection program at pinagpanggap akong rich living in a posh suburban village.”

Supporting her are Wendell Ramos as the hunky cop she adores, Buboy Villar as her son, Jennica Garcia as her sister, Carl Guevarra as Jenn’s boyfriend, Chariz Solomon as her wacky assistant, Bayani Agbayani as the police chief, Gelli de Belen as her villainous neighbour, and Ricky Davao in a dual role as a the macho government official Winston who moonlights as Lady Gangsta.

In “Mamarazzi”, Uge admits she didn’t notify Diether Ocampo that she’ll devour his lips with passion when they did a crucial kissing scene. I was really blown away at matagal bago ko naka-recover. Nakakatuwa lang dahil nakipaglaro din siya sa’kin. Nainggit tuloy si John Lapus kasi siya hindi naka-chancing kay Diet.”

He reveals how he met ex-wife Liezel Sycangco, how he adored his Ma’am (Sharon Cuneta) when they did ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’, and his romances with Vina Morales and Kris Aquino. He must really be a great lover. “Hindi naman,” he demurs. “Matindi lang ako magmahal. Di mo ko mapapaiyak pag may namatay. Namatay nga tatay ko at ang lola kong nag-alaga sakin, di ako umiyak. Pero kapag nagkuwento ako tungkol sa pagmamahal ko sa kaibigan, sa babae, sa ermat ko, don ako bibigay.”
