CARLA ABELLANA’s first movie was supposed to be “Nieves” with Marian Rivera, meant to be a filmfest entry last December but was shelved after Marian had an accident while taping “Darna”. Now, Carla finally makes her film debut in Regal’s “Mamarazzi” as the niece of John Lapus on whom title-roler Eugene Domingo’s only son, AJ Perez, has a crush. “Teacher kasi ako rito ni AJ,” she says. “The problem is I already have a boyfriend, JC Tiuseco. I’m glad my first movie is with Direk Joel Lamangan kasi siya rin ang director ko in ‘Basahang Ginto’ kaya at home na ako sa kanya.
In ‘Basahan’, I do drama as Orang, the poor girl from the mountains na binihisan at pinaganda ni Geoff Eigenmann. In this film naman, we do comedy and I realized Direk Joel is really a genius who can do both drama and comedy with equal ease. I’m also thankful na Eugene Domingo is so generous as a co-star dahil she gives me tips on how to do a comic scene better para lumabas talagang nakakatawa on screen.”
She and her mom now live in her lola’s house in Horseshoe Village. With her earnings from showbiz, she was able to buy a P10 million townhouse. Did she buy it for her and Geoff’s future? we joke.
“If ever, di ba dapat yung guy ang maghahanda ng bagong bahay? Ako, gusto ko lang maranasan magkaroon ng sarili kong bahay for my mom. Ang nakakatawa, sa ‘Basahang Ginto, talagang nag-propose na si Geoff ng kasal sa’kin. Isinama ko siya sa Aeta community where I live at nagsayaw kami ng talik-puyo, a ritual dance for a couple bago sila ikasal. Galit na galit naman ang lola niya nang malamang engaged na kami at sasabunutan ako ni Vaness del Moral na dating girlfriend ni Geoff. But I’ll discover the truth na si Geoff pala ang nakasagasa noon sa mother ko.”

THE MUCH AWAITED love triangle drama, “In Your Eyes”, had a successful premiere at SM Megamall Sunday night. Its lead actor, Richard Gutierrez, maybe known on TV as Primetime King but on the big screen, but he’s now the Ultimate Dream Leading Man, a tag given to him by his “In Your Eyes” leading ladies, Claudine Barretto and Anne Curtis. “Artistang-artista talaga ang dating ni Richard as he’s tall, handsome and a real dreamboat,” says Claudine who was back hosting “Showbiz Central” last Sunday after she got sick of tonsillitis the week before. “Our film will show he’s also a fine actor who’s very effective in dramatic scenes. Anne and I play sisters in the story na parehong nakarelasyon niya. When you see the film, you’ll find out why he’s so irresistible.”
Anne agrees with her Ate Clau. “He’s not only an actor but also a real gentleman to his leading ladies. We were together in L.A. shooting the film and he really took good care of us. We have passionate love scenes in the film and he was protective of me, never taking advantage.”
Richard’s been paired with Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, KC Concepcion, Heart Evangelista, Rhian Ramos, Cristine Reyes, and they all speak highly and fondly of Richard. Even his co-workers and directors attest to his dedication to his craft and devotion to his work, being a true professional.
“It’s always a pleasure working with Chard,” says Direk Mac Alejandre of “In Your Eyes”. “The feedback on his and his co-stars’ performances after the premiere is so encouraging. This is his most mature and daring film to date. When I told him he’d have to bare, wala siyang reklamo. His love scenes with both Claudine and Anne are the most sensitive he has done to date and his fans shouldn’t miss it.”
After its premiere at SM Megamall, “In Your Eyes” opens tomorrow in theatres nationwide.

THE CONFLICT between Robin Padilla and ex-wife Liezl Sicangco has become fodder for the grapevine. As one writer says: “Talagang pinagpipiyestahan sila ngayon.” This was aggravated when Liezl allowed herself to be interviewed on the phone and she denounced Robin for not taking good care of their three kids who are with him: Queenie, Kylie and specially Ali whose life was reportedly put to danger when he had appendicitis and he refused to tell Robin about it as his dad told him boys are not cry babies. Liezl told Robin on the air: “Magpakalalaki ka.” She later added: “Sana kung hindi na niya maalagaan ang mga anak namin, ibalik na lang niya sa’kin dito sa Australia at maasikaso ko sila 24/7. Wala akong pakialam kay Mariel (Rodriguez). Ang concern ko lang, ang kalagayan ng mga anak namin, lalo si Ali na napakabata pa. Nakausap ko si Ali sa phone, umiiyak at matagal na raw niyang di nakikita ang ama niya. Pumayag lang akong umuwi rito ang mga babae kasi nangako siyang aalagaan niya at di muna siya mag-aasawa para maasikaso niya ang mga bata, pero ngayon, paano pa niya maasikaso ang mga ito mas nakatutok siya at gusto niyang pakasalan si Mariel?”

NOW THAT HEART Evangelista has broken up with Vice Mayor Ian Dy, she can’t be linked with “Langit sa Piling Mo” leading man Mark Herras as it’s common knowledge he’s on with Ynna Asistio, so Heart is now being linked to Brapanese actor Daniel Matsunaga who plays Xavier in “Langit”. “I read nga na nakikita raw kami dating out frequently at parang pinalilitaw na may third party involved sa breakup namin ng ex ko and it’s Daniel,” she says. “It’s true, lumabas na kami together, but we’re a big group.

A few nights before, Enzo celebrated his 20th birthday at the Fort and Sarah was his special guest. It’s obvious his family likes her so much. Enzo is now paired with Rhian Ramos in “Kaya ng Powers” and he’s been quoted saying he has a crush on Rhian. So the first question to them was: Nagseselos ba si Sarah na crush ni Enzo si Rhian? Both of them said no and both of them were lying. Sarah said she has no right to tell Enzo not to have a crush on anyone.
Is Enzo courting her? Enzo said yes while Sarah said no. It turns out Enzo is telling the truth but Sarah is lying. “Si Enzo, laging nandiyan, but he doesn’t say naman na nanliligaw siya,” Sarah explained.
