DINGDONG DANTES is celebrating his 30th birthday today. This will be followed by GF Marian Rivera’s own 26th birthday on August 12. They’re definitely of the right marrying age but they still have no plan to tie the knot. “Enjoy pa kami with being single,” says Dong. “We’ll settle down pag ready na talaga kami to start our own family.”
What are their plans for the birthdays? “Ang gusto ko talaga, to spend it sa Disney World in Florida kasi she hasn’t been there, but we’re so busy taping for ‘Endless Love’ kaya kailangang mag-advance taping muna kami before we can go abroad,” he says. “As of now, we’re just so happy dahil patuloy na tumataas ang rating ng ‘Endless Love’ and we’re sure it’ll rate even more dahil paganda ng paganda ang story.”

SINGER KUH LEDESMA is enjoying her foray into acting as Dennis Trillo’s rich and haughty mom in “Endless Love”. “My last acting job was in ‘Bituin’ sa ABS but my role here is more challenging kasi first taping ko pa lang, pinasampal na agad sa’kin si Dennis,” she says. “Wala pa kong ganung eksenang nananampal kaya sabi ko sa director naming si Mac Alejandre, puede ba dayain na lang? Sabi niya, hindi, so ginawa ko and okay namang lumabas, nasaktan ko nga lang si Dennis kasi totoo yung sampal.”
Her role is somewhat that of a contravida. Does she mind? “No, it’s just a role. At first, naisip ko, baka isipin ng mga tao, ganoon nga ako in real life, nananampal ng anak. But I think viewers now are intelligent to know what’s real from what’s reel.”
How is it working with Dennis and other “Endless Love” co-stars? “Enjoy ako. They all take their jobs seriously and I love their dedication to their craft.”
It’s good ABS allowed her to work with GMA. “Freelancer naman ako. If they want me to guest in ASAP, puede pa rin naman ako. It just so happened maganda itong offer na soap ng GMA and I like to act also, kaya tinanggap ko. Kaya lang, di ako pupuedeng mag-guest sa ‘Party Pilipinas’ sa GMA kasi siempre, bilang respeto na lang sa ASAP, di ba?”
Eventually, Kuh wants to produce an indie film. “May maganda kasi akong storyline na gusto kong gawin. I’m now writing it and I also plan to act in it.”

BARON GEISLER says the second best actor award he won in Cinemalaya for “Donor” (the first was for “Jay”) is a sure sign that he should turn over a new leaf. He’s grateful that in spite of several mistakes before, ABS has not lost faith in him and has given him a good role as a “taong unggoy” in Piolo Pascual’s “Noah”. He says he also has a new inspiration in his Aussie girlfriend, Rachel Stephenson, with whom he’s now living in.
“She’s my angel who reminds me not to go back to drinking and stay serious and more focused with my work,” he says. “Instead of going out, I just stay home because of her. Instead of drinking liquor, coffee na lang ako.”
Does she intend to join showbiz also? “No, but she wants to try modelling here as she has a good figure so she’s perfect as a lingerie or underwear model.”

ALJUR ABRENICA wants to thank GMA-7 for taking good care of him and his younger co-stars in “ILumina” that starts airing tonight. “Before we started, we had a special acting workshop with Direk Gina Alajar,” he says. “Kasi puro award-winners ang makakasama naming sina Christopher de Leon, Cesar Montano, Jean Garcia at Ara Mina kaya siempre, mas mabuti na yung mahasa muna kami bago isabak in acting with them. It helped us gain more confidence sa mga eksena namin with our more experienced co-stars.”
How does it feel that Rhian and Jackie will be fighting over him in “ILumina”? “Oo nga, marami tuloy naiinggit sa’kin. Suwerte ko naman, sana kahit sa totoong buhay. But it’s just a role and we’re all professional so walang kaso yun.”
It’s common knowledge Jackie is committed to a non-showbiz BF while he and Rhian are unattached. So what’s the possibility of them falling for each other? “Bakit ba lahat, yun ang tinatanong? Baka magkadevelopan daw kami. Well, everything is possible pero, ang bottomline, trabaho lang ito at ang priority namin, pagbutihin ang trabaho namin sa ikagaganda ng ‘ILumina’.”

WE HEARD some friends of Cong. Ronald Singson are convincing Lovi Poe to visit her ex-boyfriend while imprisoned in Hongkong but she begged off. To begin with, it’s said only close family members are allowed to visit the inmate and Lovi is not at all related to him. Even his own dad Gov. Chavit Singson hasn’t visited him yet. Also, Lovi is busy doing “Party Pilipinas” and will also tape “Love Bug” in Palawan with Rocco Nacino. She’s likewise shooting the horror movie “White House” with Gabby Concepcion, DJ Mo and Megan Young on location in the alleged haunted white house in Baguio. Because of this, some quarters are calling her (which we believe is unfair for her) a fair weather girlfriend, meaning, she’s with Ronald only during better times and not when he’s having problems.

GEOFF EIGENMANN’s mom, Gina Alajar, and Carla Abellana’s dad, Rey PJ Abellana, both say that they have no objections in case their kids would really fall in love with each other. But it seems the stars of the afternoon hit, “Basahang Ginto”, that continues to rate higher each week, are not in a hurry to be committed to one another.
“We’re happy with the way we are now,” says Geoff. “She’s the girl who’s closest to me now and I don’t date anyone else. Yun ang importante. But we don’t want it to be a confining kind of relationship.”
They’re happy that “Basahang Ginto” remains to be the toprating afternoon drama. “Paganda kasi ng paganda ang story. When we went to the U.S. for GMA Pinoy TV promo, the viewers there are aware of what’s happening in the story. This week, I have to make a crucial decision as Danny. I defend Orang (Carla) from Rocky (Kevin Santos) who tried to rape her, but my family headed by my lola (Celia Rodriguez) wants me to make a final choice: the woman I love or my family?”
