The show begins in the fairy tale world of Fantasia. Grazilda and her mom, Matilda (Rio Locsin), and sister Anatalia (Djanin Cruz), maltreat Cinderella (Gwen Zamora). Grazilda forces her foot to fit into the shoe Cinderella left behind in the palace, but she fails. Then she tries to stop the wedding of Cinderella to Prince Charming (Benedict Campos) and, for this, the fairy godmother (Jolina Magdangal), punishes her and sends her to real world of mortals where she has a reversal of fortune. She meets her dad Fernando (Joel Torre) and lives with his family. Her cruel stepmom is Veronne (Cherie Gil) and her evil stepsisters are Cindy (Yasmien Kurdi) and Tonette (Steff Prescott) who make her their personal slave, making her experience what she did to Cinderella before.

GEOFF EIGENMANN will now be seen in two shows, one in the afternoon, “Basahang Ginto”, and one in primetime, “Grazilda”, since the latter started while the former is still being aired. “Lagari nga ako sa taping ng two shows kasi nag-overlap sila,” he says. “But I’m not complaining at all as I think it’s a real blessing that even before one show has ended, may kasunod na agad akong trabaho.”
How is it working with his aunt Cherie Gil? “I’m excited kasi first time ko to work with her. I’ve seen her past movies and she’s such a great actress. I’m proud she’s my aunt.”
What did Carla Abellana say about he’s being paired with Glaiza? “She’s excited as she knows Glaiza is a good actress kasi we saw her then in ‘Diva’. Natutuwa rin siyang okay naman ang chemistry naming ni Glaiza.”
Will he miss Carla after “Basahang Ginto” ends? “Oh yes, definitely. But we’ll still keep in touch. Right now, patapos na kami so viewers shouldn’t miss each single episode dahil thrilling talaga. Carla as Orang will discover that Lillian (Samantha) is not really her mom. Pina-DNA test siya ni Aiko Melendez as Rosenda and it’s found out na si Aiko talaga ang mom niya and Lillian is just exploiting her so Orang slaps her fake mom.”

IT’S BEEN MENTIONED in blind items for some time now that an actor and an actress were taken to the emergency room of a hospital fully covered by blankets to conceal their identities. It’s said the actress suffered from vaginismus (tightening of the vaginal muscles) during the sex act and because of this, her partner cannot withdraw his organ. As such, they had to be rushed to the hospital. It’s obviously a fabricated piece of scandalous scuttlebutt. Now, some papers are dignifying it by naming the victims of this malicious gossip as John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao. Boy Abunda in SNN finally said his piece about it: ''Kasi po may umiikot na malisyoso at bastos na balita na may kinalaman kina Shaina Magdayao at John Lloyd Cruz. The first time I heard about this tsismis, the hospital involved was in Quezon City, But now, nalipat na sa isang ospital sa Makati. Ito ay may kinalaman sa diumano'y pagdala kay Shaina Magdayao sa isang ospital. Ito po ay walang katotohanan. This is unfair especially to a girl like Shaina. Hindi po ito totoo, 'wag po kayong maniwala. We have to stop this.'
Both John Lloyd and Shaina are now too busy working on TV and films. John Lloyd is taping “Imortal” with Angel Locsin and shooting a film tentatively titled “Amnesia Girl” with Toni Gonzaga, directed by Cathy Molina. Shaina, in turn, has just finished “Sa’Yo Lamang” paired with Coco Martin and is now taping “Precious Heart Presents Alynna”.

BRAPANESE MODEL Akihiro Sato, currently seen in GMA-7’s hit “Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown”, is currently rumored to be having an affair with Arnell Ignacio, who reportedly gave him a Blackberry phone and an expensive motorcycle. “We’re just friends,” he says. “He’s very nice to me and he gives me advice about my career. That’s all.”
Aki is still recovering from the insect bites he got while in the island where “Survivor Philippines” was shot. “I cannot go shirtless now because of the sores in my upper body that are still being treated. They’re so itchy so I scratched it and it swelled and got worse, turning into a bad case of allergy. I had to consult a dermatologist to make sure the sores will heal well and not leave ugly scars on my skin.”
He got so dark while exposed to the elements and he also let his beard and moustache grow. “They say I now look like a terrorist,” he laughs.
He’s well liked by the other castaways since he’s very helpful to all of them and he doesn’t complain in spite of his skin problems. “I just did my best during the challenges. I do want to win but we don’t know yet what will happen in the show since there will be a twist and it’s unlike past ‘Survivors’ before. But if ever I’d want someone else to win, it’s Nanay Elma Muros. She deserves it. She’s very hardworking, mabait and the money she’ll get will surely be a big help to her children.”

WHEN WE were in San Francisco a couple of months ago, we learned that a Pinoy resto that kababayans love to frequent in the Bay Area is Tribu Grill with branches in Union City and San Bruno. Some of the Pinoy celebrities who have eaten there are Apple de Ap of Blackeyed Peas, Arnel Pineda of the Journey, Cherie Gil and her mom Rosemarie Gil, Sam Milby, and other local stars. Owned by Francisco Kit Santana and his wife Happy, the executive chef, their best sellers are crispy pata, sisig, kare-kare, lumpia and pancit given in really big servings. Even Americans now love to eat in their resto. We’re glad that Kit and Happy, who are originally from Bataan before moving to the U.S., have now opened a branch in Quezon City at the upper ground floor of Berkeley Square on Commonwealth Ave. near the corner of Tandang Sora, managed by their only daughter, Steffi, who’s 21 but looks like a high school student. Tribu Grill Express offers fast food but with class. We just love their chicken inasal, sizzling bangus belly, and bagoong rice, all at cheap prices with their value meals and big meals with unlimited rice. No wonder people from UP, Ateneo and New Era are now flocking to them at mealtime and to unwind after a hard day’s work.
