IZA CALZADO’s dad, Lito, used to complain that his daughter doesn’t have a regular show. Now, Iza will be seen in two daily shows. She’s now the co-host of Lucy Torres in “The Sweet Life” on Q Channel 11 seen daily at 6 PM. Soon, she’ll also be seen in the new and original afternoon soap, “Koronang Papel”, directed by Maryo J. De los Reyes to replace “Basahang Ginto”. Because of this, she has to beg off in playing the role of contravida to Marian Rivera in Regal’s Metro filmfest entry, “Super Inday and the Magic Bibe”. “Buti na lang natapos ko na ang shooting nung Halloween presentation ng Regal, ‘White House’, where I play a very intriguing role that siempre, I won’t reveal kung ano para ma-thrill ang viewers,” she says. “This is also the reason why I had to say no to another project being offered by TV 5 to me. Siempre, priority ko pa rin ang GMA-7 as my mother studio.”
Her co-stars in “Koronang Papel” are TJ Trinidad, Katrina Halili, Marvin Agustin, Elizabeth Oropesa, Luis Alandy, Carmi Martin, and Fanny Serrano.

AGA MUHLACH is hoping they can still finish “Of All the Things”, his movie with Regine Velasquez, before her wedding. The problem is he’s now busy with “Huling Sayaw” with Angel Locsin that requires them to do some location shoot in Japan, while Regine is starting an indie film, “Mrs. Recto”, and also a new teleserye in October, “I Heart U, Pare”, where she’s paired with Dingdong Dantes. She’s also busy attending to the details of her December 22 wedding. She just went to Beverly Hills in Los Angeles to meet with famous designer Monique Lhuillier for her wedding gown.
Aga says it’ll take some time before he’d be able to finish his film with Angel. “Our director (Olive Lamasan) is using a different kind of high definition camera, called red camera, and it’s different from the usual film camera. Matagal ang set up kasi kakaibang lighting ang kailangan. We had one sequence shot for three days, pero mga one minute lang siguro mapapanood on screen. Ganun kahirap gawin itong movie na ito.”
How does he find his new director for his ABS-CBN comedy with Ai Ai de las Alas,”M3”, Frasco Mortiz, the son of Edgar Mortiz. “I love working with new and young directors. I’m quite impressed with Direk Frasco when he presented us his ideas for the show and they’re all new and fresh. I’m sure he’d help ‘M3’ gain more viewers. Sanay naman sa siya sa comedy directing ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ and ‘Banana Split’.”
How’s Aga as dad to twins, Andres and Atasha? “I’m lucky as they’re both well behaved. When they were four, napalo ko sila but now, pareho na silang walang nagagawang mali. Even before buying junk food, nagpapaalam muna sila sa amin ng mommy nila as they know we want them to eat healthy foods. I’m really proud of them. Magkaiba sila ng school na pinapasukan to avoid being compared with each other.”

MEGAN YOUNG got very positive reviews for her role as a balikbayan photographer from the U.S. who gets involved in political activism in the 70s in Joel Lamangan’s A-rated film, “Sigwa”. “It feels great na mapasama sa ganung movie na puro mahuhusay ang artista,” she says. “I was the young version of Dawn Zulueta in it and I’d say it’s one of my most challenging assignments so far.”
She’s now in Regal’s Halloween presentation, “White House”, where she plays a young woman who joins a reality show featuring contestants who are required to live and stay in the famed haunted Laperal House in Baguio. “It has another big cast as I’m with Gabby Concepcion, Iza Calzado, DJ Mo, Lovi Poe, Sarah Lahbati and Maricar Reyes, directed by Topel Lee. I’ve seen parts of the film at nakakatakot talaga.”
On TV, she’s a mainstay in the ABS rom-comed, “M3”, and has most of her scenes with Aga Muhlach. “I told myself ang suwerte ko being able to work with the likes of Gabby and Aga. Taping ‘M3’ with Aga every week made me realized kung gaano siya kabait. Kasi, let’s face it, sa stature niya, he’s already up there, but he remains very nice and approachable. A real gentleman.”
If Aga were single, would she fall for him? “Oo naman, kasi mabait talaga siya. Suwerte nga si Charlene Gonzales as he’s a very loving and responsible husband and family man. But I already have a boyfriend (an Ateneo cager) and okay naman kami.”

IS IT TRUE MARCO Alcaraz has forbidden his girlfriend, former Miss Interrnational Precious Lara Quigaman to go sexy in films? “No, I don’t meddle with her career,” he says. “She can even pose for sexy magazines. Kung gusto niya, it’s her decision. Hindi rin naman siya nagbabawal na magpa-sexy ako, basta huwag lang daw ako man-chicks. I’m happy for her kasi tuloy-tuloy ang projects niya sa ABS while I’m with GMA. Nasa ‘Endless Love’ ako at siya naman, nasa ‘Impostor’ and later, sa ‘Imortal’ na si Jomari Yllana ang kapareha niya.”
Is he in better terms with former manager Arnold Vegafria? “I haven’t seen him lately but if I do, I’ll say hi. Basta ako, okay naman ako ngayon with my new manager, Noel Ferrer, who gets me a lot of jobs hosting beauty pageants in various regions kaya I have a new career.”
Has Lara and he talked about getting married? “Minsan-minsan, napag-uusapan, but nothing concrete. If ever, we want a beach wedding kasi pareho kaming mahilig sa dagat. Pero matagal pa yun.”

The youngest of six kids, he comes from the Recios of Batangas and obtained his veterinary medicine degree from UP Los Banos. When we got to the island, ibang-iba yung experiences namin ng mga kasama ko as our island had harsher conditions at ibang-iba rin ang composition ng castaways na puro celebrities na may kanya-kanyang personalities.”
Still single at 33, Doc Ferdz is now back in “Born to be Wild”. Their next episode shows the beauty of the island of Masbate and Ticao Pass where he goes underwater to see giant manta rays (pague) and giant whale sharks and tuna fish.
