ANGELU DE LEON was glowing at the presscon of “Koreana” where she plays the role of Kris Bernal’s mother. We told her marriage becomes her and she says: “Kitang-kita ba?” She married her non-showbiz BF, Lorenzo Wowie Rivera in an intimate Christian wedding at Hotel Sofitel last September 17. It’s common knowledge she has two daughters, Nicole, 11 (with Joko Diaz as dad) and Margaret, 9 (with Jojo Manlongat as dad), and she’s so thankful Wowie accepted them as his own wholeheartedly. She and Wowie met four years ago while playing badminton, became friends who got converted as Born again Christians attending the same church. Wowie has a son, Lorenzo Jr., with his first wife, the daughter of an actress who has also remarried.
“This is the will of God,” says Angelu. “Both of us, maraming pinagdaanan and we found each other through Him. I really prayed hard for this kasi nga, I wasn’t that lucky in my past relationships. When we had a fight once, sabi ko, Lord, kundi talaga ito meant to be or if he’s really the one, please give me a concrete answer na either yes or no. And then I was brought to this Bible passage from the second book of Corinthians, Chapter 2, saying ‘a Yes is a Yes from God.’ So I knew it’s God’s will and my husband came at God’s own right time. I’m not saying our relationship will be perfect and free from conflicts, but with us putting God in the center of our marriage, we know we can make the necessary adjustments and put up with life’s ups and downs. E, ngayon nga, nagre-react siya, kasi napasama ko sa ‘Koreana’ at inaabot ako ng magdamag sa taping. He said siya pala ang maghihintay sa akin sa bahay. Sometimes, I come home, umaga na, nakapasok na siya sa office. But he understands part yun ng work ko. I’m thankful nga kasi mabait ang role ko rito sa ‘Koreana’, unlike before na kontrabida ako like in ‘Last Prince’. Dito, ako yung mom ni Kris na inapi-api ng family ng husband kong Korean, played by Marco Morales. Si Eula Valdes na sister in law ko rito ang siyang magiging dahilan kung bakit magkakahiwalay kami ni Kris at mapupunta siya kay Lotlot de Leon na siyang magpapalaki sa kanya.”
