WHEN GABBY CONCEPCION got a call from Mother Lily Monteverde offering him the role of the spirit questor in the horror film “White House”, he didn’t have any second thoughts in giving his nod. “I’m an original Regal baby and I owe Mother Lily a lot as I started with her in 1980 in the film ‘Katorse’,” he says. “I did so many hits with her, including ‘Summer Love’, ‘Hello Young Lovers’, ‘Summer Holiday’, and more. So I’m really happy to work again with Regal. This time, I’m now the most senior member of the cast at puro mga bagets na ang kasama ko like Iza Calzado, Lovi Poe, Megan Young, DJ Mo, Sarah Lahbati and Janus del Prado. I’m really happy na makasama ko sila in this film.”
“I’m really excited to have Gabby working with us again,” says Mother Lily. “Everyone knows how a big star he is na kahit sinong i-partner sa kanya, patok ang pelikula. With ‘White House’, you can say Gabby is coming home to me. I consider him not just as an actor kundi anak ko talaga.”
Gabby is married in to model Angel Jacob in the story. He’s then contacted by Maricar Reyes, a TV exec who produces a reality show set in a haunted house. His job is to verify whether there are really malevolent spirits that inhabit the house. He goes there with his wife and their young daughter. He immediately feels the presence of bad elements in the air and warns Maricar that the house is indeed haunted and, therefore, dangerous. Despite his warning, Maricar continues to send the contestants in the reality to live in the house for five days, resulting into some macabre incidents and mayhem. What’s even worse, Gabby discovers that his own daughter has been possessed by one of the evil spirits.
We asked his co-stars how is it working with Gabby? “He’s great to work with,” says DJ Mo. “Siya pang unang babati sa’yo: O, pare, how are you? No airs that he’s a big star.”
“Makuwento siya sa set,” says Iza Calzado. “He brings food for everyone at binabati niya ang lahat, pati crew. He’s hardworking at kahit mahirap ang eksena involving hauntings and his fight with bad entities, he doesn’t complain.”
