IZA CALZADO can now heave a sigh of relief as the pilot telecast of her new show, “Beauty Queen”, rated very well. “Pero hindi pa rin ako makakahinga nang husto kasi tense pa ko at opening ng bagong movie namin today, ‘White House’,” she says. “Maganda ang role ko rito as the mysterious Black Lady, kasingganda ng role ko noon sa ‘Sigaw’, kaya excited din ako rito at gusto kong makatiyak na it will be a big box office hit.”

What can she say about a writer who called her the new Retoke Queen, alleging that her ample bosom displayed in her bikini pictorials for “Beauty Queen” was a ”salamat po, doktor” enhancement. “Natawa ko kasi as they’ve always been like that, but ngayon lang kasi ko nagpakita ng cleavage kaya akala, retokado. If indeed pinagawa ko lang ito, I’ll admit it. But wala talagang ginalaw diyan. With my body, what you see is what you get. Gift ni Lord at produkto ng regular workouts.”

Didn’t her BF Atticus King object to her going sexy? “Positive ang reaction niya. He’s supportive naman of my career and he also knows pinaghirapan ko ang figure ko kaya okay lang sa kanya. What his worried about is addicted na raw ako sa workouts, lalo na sa running. Kasi kahit pagod o puyat ako, I still run. But I promised him hanggang sa ‘Beauty Queen’ lang ang pagpapa-sexy kong ito and I won’t pose for men’s mags or do endorsements that will require me to just wear panties and bra.”

Why didn’t she join a beauty contest before? “Simply because I don’t have the confidence or the body for it. I was so taba before, halos 200 lbs. Nagpapayat lang ako when I joined showbiz. But I’m glad kahit hindi ako nakasali noon, I’m now a Beauty Queen in my own right dahil sa bago kong show.
