THE FIRST REALITY sitcom, GMA-7's “Pepito Manaloto”, won the best comedy program special citation and “Mel & Joey” the best talk show special citation at the recent 32nd Catholic Mass media Awards (CMMA) held at UST. Pepito Manaloto is an original concept of multi-awarded artist and creative director Michael V, who also portrays the amusing title character, a poor man who won P700 million in the lotto. Mel & Joey is hosted by the formidable duo of well-respected broadcast journalist Mel Tiangco and comedian-host Joey de Leon. Mel & Joey already won best talk show awards from CMMA in 2005 and in 2008. Pepito Manaloto and Mel & Joey are both top-rating Sunday night shows of GMA-7. Richard Gutierrez’ environmental docu, “Planet Philippines”, also won as best educational-cultural show. Kudos to all concerned.
