Ang Babae sa Sementeryo

Ang Babae sa Sementeryo Press Release

“Ang Babae sa Sementeryo” is no ordinary horror-suspense thriller. It tells a story of the ills of the society brought about by poverty, exploitation of women, prostitution on a small scale and the scarcity of education. Desecration of the dead is also tackled in the movie. In a community where people believe that supernatural beings like multo can kill undesirable individuals any time of the day is disastrous to this particular remote area of the country. Or can any devil-possessed person readily takes away the life of another?

Can supernatural beings kill or simply the cancer of the society does?

The story-teller, Ariel Inton, is a former city councilor had visited from one wake to another every night. It was his nightly chores for nine years as part of his public service. That’s how he was able to coin the story collaborated by Buboy Tan’s fertile mind through his screenplay. Both have spent months in choosing actors and actresses to portray the aptly chiselled character tailored to each acting prowess.

Ms. Boots Anson-Roa, Tommy Abuel, Roi Vinzon and Roldan Aquino are veteran actors (taken collectively) in the local movie industry and they are award-winning thespians. So with former beauty queen Ma. Isabel Lopez who seems to get a grand- slam for an acting award in a supporting role in a recent movie thriller; Ella Guevara is the 2006 Famas Best Child Actress for portraying a role in a religious movie; Mon Confiado the 2007 Famas Best Supporting Actor for portraying a gay role in an Indie film; and the comebacking Isadora was always nominated during her prime in the 90’s in all award-giving bodies. Not to mention playwright Buboy Tan as the 2008 Famas Best Screenplay writer for his “Ataul for Rent” in which he also took the helm.

Aside from Isadora, two former matinee idols are staging a comeback in this first venture of AEI Movie Productions. Both Kuya Germ’s “That’s Entertainment” members, Jigo Garcia and Brylle Mondejar, also prove their mettle in the movie as paranormal experts. Their search for truth about supernatural beings is really devastating because the culprit they found out was beyond suspicion.

The story in this movie certainly needs a sequel.

“Ang Babae sa Sementeryo” was entirtely filmed at the City of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan where Mayor Reynaldo San Pedro extended his able support.

The suspenseful movie vehicle is produced by Antonio “Ariel” Enrile-Inton, Jr. with the cooperation of the Exponential International Trading, Inc. owned by Ma. Gracia A. Lara.

Playdate in Metro Manila theatres is November 10. 2010.
