CONGRATS to Director Joel Lamangan’s political film, “Dukot”, that has been shown in various cities in Europe like Rome, Milan, Amsterdam, Brussels, Vienna, London, Geneva and Bern, and in the U.S. like San Francisco, L.A., Seattle, Chicago, New York, Jersey City and Washington DC plus the state of Virginia. Its supervising producer, Dennis Evangelista, has toured all over the world to accompany its screenings with lead actor Allen Dizon. Because of its success, they’re now filming another politically oriented film, “Deadline”, about warlordism (like the Ampatuan Massacre) and the murders of media people. It will be written again by Bonifacio Ilagan of “Dukot” and the cast includes Tirso Cruz III, Allen Dizon, Lovi Poe, Ina Feleo, John Apacible, Tom Rodriguez, Jim Pebanco, and Mon Confiado.
“There’s really a market for advocacy films like ‘Dukot’,” says Dennis. “Kundi man siya well received in its regular run in local theatres as it’s hard to compete with mainstream films made by the top networks, it’s a hit in alternative circuits like campuses and abroad. So it’s not true that only gay indie films can hit it big. Even indie films with political themes, as long the story is truthful and legit, may audience siya lalo sa ibang bansa na gustong makapanood ng mas makabuluhang mga pelikula.”
