“Masarap din naman magtrabaho sa Regal kasi all out si Mother sa budget mapaganda lang ang movie,” says Jake. “I signed up for three films with Regal and this is the first. I’m glad kasi maganda agad and it gave me the chance pa to work with Marian Rivera, tapos pang-filmfest pa. I play a superhero named Amazing J who’s a techie and has the power to fly. I’ve done superhero roles before, but on TV lang. Dito, mas mahirap ang fight scenes so I requested kay Mother na I’d get the Team Lakay of stuntmen from Baguio that I worked with in ‘Agimat ni Elias Paniki’ and she agreed right away. Grabe ang fight scenes dito. In one scene, nahila ko ng stuntman at humampas ako on a glass door. Basag yung salamin and it’s good I wasn’t hurt.”
How’s it working with Marian? “At first, intimidated ako kasi siyang top female star sa GMA, di ba? But it turned out mabait siya, napakadaling pakisamahan at nagkasundo kami agad. It helped na we’re both dugong Spanish. Her dad lives in Madrid while my own parents live in Valencia, Spain, just three hours away. I realized nga how lucky Dingdong Dantes is with her kasi maganda na, mabait pa, very talented pa.”
Jake is real busy these days. He has just finished the indie film “H.I.V.” and is also doing “Huling Sayaw” with Aga Muhlach for Star Cinema. On TV, he’s paired with Anne Curtis in the upcoming “Green Rose”. “This year is really a good one for me and it’s ending well with ‘Super Inday and the Golden Bibe’ being an entry in the Metro Filmfest that opens on Christmas Day,” he beams.
