Marvin Agustin had a great time as a judge in Brussels Filmfest

MARVIN AGUSTIN is back from his ten-day stay in Belgium where he was one of the jurors at the Brussels Filmfest. He hosted a late lunch for the press at Johnny Chow, his new resto in Resorts World. “I wasn’t able to go to other parts of Europe kasi we’re watching two to four films a day,” he says. “There was a time we watched 12 short films in succession, but it’s a very enriching experience for me as I made a lot of new friends and a lot of contacts from producers and directors who want to try doing movies here in our country. They’re asking materials from me that they can produce and shoot here.”

Upon his return home, Marvin immediately started taping for “Beauty Queen”. Marvin plays a wealthy magnate named Donald Cervantes since his character is patterned after Donald Trump. “It’s something new to me kasi dapat, super yaman at dignified lagi ang projection ko. In the story, Iza Calzado as Maita will get into big trouble because of her love affair with Marc, si TJ Trinidad, and Marc’s mom, Madame Yuri, si Gloria Diaz, is against her kasi mas gusto nito si Maggie Wilson for her son. TJ assures her he’ll fight for her pero maaapi si Iza nang husto especially when Maggie say she’s pregnant with TJ’s child. Dun ako makikilala ni Iza in a beauty pageant where I’m a judge and I’ll fall in love with her.”

Aside from “Beauty Queen”, Marvin is busy with two movies, Marilou Abaya’s “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig” where he plays a priest afflicted with terminal illness, and the Star Cinema filmfest entry, “Tanging Ina Mo Rin, Last Na ‘To”, where he reprises his role as Ai Ai de las Alas’ eldest son married to Kaye Abad. In February, he goes back to Europe where his indie film, “Red Shoes”, will compete in the Mons Filmfest du Amour in Mons, Belgium.
