She’s understandably more excited with ‘Shake 12’ as she plays the lead role in the episode “Mamanyika”, the directorial debut of Zoren Legaspi. “I’m the eldest daughter of Ricky Davao. We have a gap kasi I blame him for the death of my mom, Jackielou Blanco, in a car crash. I often visit my mom’s grave with my sister, Elija Alejo (who’s also in the other Regal entry, ‘Super Inday and the Golden Bibe’). She finds a doll in the cemetery and takes it home, not knowing it’s possessed by an evil spirit.”
The spirit belongs to Rita Avila, a lunatic who blames other people for losing her baby and now wants to destroy the lives of other families. The doll kills Shaina’s housemaid and driver. Carmina Villaroel makes a special appearance in “Mamanyika” as a nurse and she did it for free to show her support to partner Zoren. “Mamanyika” marks the acting debut of singer Jed Madela, who is one of the victims of the killer doll. The press release says the doll reminds Shaina of one of John Lloyd’s ex-girlfriends. Which one among them: Ciara Sotto, Liz Uy or Ruffa Gutierrez? “Huh?” she asked, very much perplexed. “Walang ganun. Intrigahin daw ba pati yung manyika.”
