THE FINAL 12 contestants in
“Star Power, Sharon Cuneta’s Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar” were formally presented to the press after a series of thrilling elimination rounds and rigorous mentoring of the megastar herself. They are Akiko Solon (Shining Star of Cebu), Ninay Lescano (Soul Singer DJ from Lipa City), Kaye Racho (Cute Rakista of Cebu), Macy delos Reyes (Pop Charmer of Cebu), K-La Rivera (R&B Sweetheart from Canada), Natasia Cunanan (Precious Voice from Bulacan), Rose Ann Francisco (All Out Singer from Batangas City), Laurice Bermillo (Aspiring Star of Bataan), Angeline Quinto (Angelic Belter of Manila), Sam Hernandez (Singing Beauty of Taguig City), Krissel Valdez (Versatile Vocalista of Davao) and Monica Sacay (Singing Darling of Leyte). We ask each of them who they think is their biggest opponent in the contest and three names emerged: Angeline and Krissel because they sing like professionals, and K-La because she’s a total package of beauty and good voice. Personally, we also think that Krissel and Angeline have the most powerful voices in the batch when it comes to making “birit”, but they’re both past 20 (Angeline competed with Sarah Geronimo in the “Search for a Star”), and the advantage of K-La is she’s only 18 and also has movie star good looks.
“Star Power”, with the help of judges Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, concert legend Mitch Valdes and R&B sensation/TV host Billy Crawford, empowers female hopefuls from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to maximize their own potentials, develop their talents and improve their skills. All of them take vocal lessons from University of the Philippines Professor Kitchie Molina, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Pinoy Rock Icon Arnel Pineda. King of Talk Boy Abunda will also train their personalities and Choreographer of the Stars Georcelle Dapat will train them in dance.
