Willie to Shalani: "Don't fall in love with me"

SHALANI SOLEDAD is now realizing how mean showbiz can be. She’s always been shy and quiet so people were really were surprised when she agreed to host a nightly show. Rumors are that Noynoy dumped Shalani because she is an unwed mom. Her detractors now say she looked cheap agreeing to be Willie’s c-host and that she joined showbiz just to forward her political ambition of running for a higher position come next election. From being a councillor, it’s insinuated she’d be running for mayor, or perhaps, even as senator. It’s also said she consented to be with Willie, a Manny Villar supporter, mainly to spite her former BF, Pres. Noynoy, who, in all fairness to him, even issued a statement saying he wishes her well. But Willie himself says she only consented because he’s able to convince her that she’ll do public service and will have her own segment in the show meant just for this.

On air, Willie told her in his show: “Shalani, kailangan ka ng sambayanang Pilipino para mas mapalawak yung pagbibigay ng saya at tulong sa kanila. Salamat sa pagtanggap mo. Ako lang ang tulay ng mga taong gustong makasama’t makilala ka pa. Ako lang ang naging boses nila. Pero ang totoong may hiling sa’yo, ang sambayanang Pilipino.”

Shalani’s reply: “Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala that I’m also here. Pero noon hong kinausap kami ni Willie, naramdaman ko ang sincerity ng offer niya. This is not about him or me but more on kung ano ang magagawa para sa tao. Abot-abot ang kaba at dasal ko kasi kahit naging host ako sa UNTV, morning show yun on news and commentaries. This is a totally different show.”

She revealed Willie told him as joke: “Don’t fall in love with me.” But what will she do if intrigues start linking them to each other? “We have a good working relationship, hanggang co-hosts lang kami.”

It should be noted that pitted against her in the same timeslot is another ex-GF of Noynoy, Korina Sanchez in “TV Patrol”. As a matter of fact, another Noynoy ex, Bernadette Sembrano, is also in it as field correspondent helping flood victims in Cagayan. Some bitchy folks are even criticizing Shalani’s looks, saying she looks plain and dowdy on TV she should get a stylist like Liz Uy, who’s the stylist of Noynoy now being linked to him.

Incidentally, we get conflicting messages about the rival 6PM shows. TV 5 claims “Willing-Willie” beat ABS’ “TV Patrol” in the ratings but ABS says otherwise. It’s only GMA-7 who’s quiet as their “24 Oras” remains to be the topnotcher in Mega-Manila ratings.
