screenings of “Dukot” abroad. “In Asia, we showed it in Hongkong, Taiwan and Japan,” he says. “In Canada, it was shown in Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver. In the U.S., sa Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York and New Jersey. Pinoy organizations themselves requested the screenings at laging punong-puno ang theatres. I was able to travel for free as they shouldered airfare and accommodations. Nakakapagod lang kasi we stay just about two to three days in each city tapos lipat na sa ibang lugar. But it shows there’s really a market for good films in the alternative circuit. Lahat, nagustuhan ang ‘Dukot’, even foreigners who became more aware about summary political abductions in our country. I’m so happy that after doing sexy films before, I now get involved in making socially relevant films at nanalo pa ko ng award. Kaya I’m so glad kasama uli ako sa ‘Deadline’ ni Direk Joel Lamangan which is loosely inspired by the events surrounding the Maguindanao massacre.”
