THE METRO MANILA FILMFEST will show five indie films from December 16 to 20 at SM Megamall: “Presa” by Adolf Alix, “Senior Year” by Jerrold Tarog (who also makes his mainstream debut in “Shake, Rattle & Roll 12”), “Slow Fade”by Rommel Sales, “Nasaan si Hefte” by Jonnah Lim, and “Rindido” by Noriel Jarito. Adolf says his film is different from “Bulaklak sa City Jail” that’s also about jailed women. “This is more like a slice of life in the Correctional Institution for Women, where conditions are not as harsh as city jail, less peaceful at walang mga patayan.
Anita Linda is the central character, a has been actress who got arrested as drug pusher. Rival niya si Perla Bautista who’s jailed naman for killing her husband. Kasama rin si Tetchie Agbayani who’s framed up for illegal recruitment with a vow of silence, Daria Ramirez who’s imprisoned dahil sa anak niyang nagnakaw ng balikbayan box, Jodi Santamaria na napasahan lang ng bag na may drugs, Rosanna Roces as the leader of the brigade who takes care of Anita Linda, Cherry Madrigal as head ng Correctional, and Liza Lorena as a rich woman jailed for pyramid scam with two alalays, Ina Feleo and Angeli Bayani.”
Anita Linda, 85, just won the best actress in the Asia Pacific Filmfest in Taiwan for her role in “Lola”. We won’t be surprised if she’d win again for “Presa” in the Metro Manila filmfest indie awards.
