ZSA ZSA PADILLA’s devotion to Dolphy is commendable. She was there when Dolphy launched his first album with PolyEast Records and she was also there attending to his needs at the presscon of his filmfest entry, “Fr. Jejemon”. “Hindi kami pinalad sa gusto naming pagpapakasal but I think our relationship for the past 21 years is better than some of those who had a wedding but didn’t last,” she says. To show her loyalty to her longtime partner, she’s now busy promoting “Fr. Jejemon” and its premiere night on December 22 at SM Megamall. “Ako naging producer after he got pneumonia during the shoot. Hindi pala madali. Nakaka-stress mag-manage ng budget at mga bayarin. Sana makuha ko yung ugali niyang laging cool na cool. But now that I’m into it, I want to try indie films with a small budget, gaya ng ginawa kong ‘Sigwa’ where I played a rebel leader. So I want to thank Dolphy for inspiring me to try producing for the first time.”
To this, Dolphy responds: “Akong dapat magpasalamat sa iyo. Ikaw talaga ang ibinigay sa akin ng Diyos. Sa hirap ni Zsa Zsa sa ‘Fr. Jejemon’, nangalumata siya kaya salamat sa pagtitiyaga niya sa’kin.”
“Fr. Jejemon” is megged by Dolphy’s nephew, Frank Gray, who also directed him in the 1977 “Omeng Satanasia” that won him the FAMAS best actor award. Dolphy plays a liberal priest who comes as an agent of change to a town controlled by a crime lord, Roy Alvarez. He replaces an old priest, Fr. Baby (Tony Mabesa), whose sister (Cherie Gil) is at first against Dolphy but later becomes his ally. Also in the film are Maja Salvador as Cherie’s daughter and Ejay Falcon as Maja’s love interest.
Zsa Zsa is glad that he daughter Karylle also has an entry in the filmfest, “Dalaw”, where she plays villain to Kris Aquino. Is it true Karylle has found a new BF in Sponge Cola vocalist Yael Yuzon?
“Nakasama na namin siyang lumabas and he’s a pretty cool guy. My children’s love life is something I don’t really want to interfere with so you better ask her yourself when it comes to that.”
But does she feel it’s about time for Karylle to have a new love after her dramatic breakup with Dingdong Dantes? “Yeah, why not?”
