GMA NETWORK has been tapped by the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) as its media partner for its two-day, 200-kilometer Ultra Marathon Relay. This will be the longest marathon in the Philippines to cover the provinces surrounding Laguna de Bay including Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, Quezon, and NCR, aimed to raise public awareness about its conservation projects in the Laguna de Bay Region. This will be held on May 1 and 2. Teams of five members each will race their way from Fontera Verde in Pasig City to the Laguna Provincial Capitol in Sta. Rosa Laguna on day one, and vice versa on day two.

Open to experienced and inexperienced runners alike, the marathon aims to promote the values of environmental consciousness, bayanihan, and teamwork to benefit the preservation and protection of the watershed areas and the Lake itself. A registration fee of P2,500 shall be collected from each participating team. Proceeds shall go to the Galalan Community Bamboo Forest Project based in Pangil, Laguna, and the Laguna de Bay Integrated Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council. The top team will receive a cash prize of P350,000, while the second, third, fourth, and fifth placers will get P200,000, P100,000, P75,000, and P50,000, respectively.
