Another concert for Jovit Baldivino

PILIPINAS GOT TALENT’s Jovit Baldivino’s first concert, “Faithfully”, at Aliw Theatre last November was such a big hit that it’s now re-staged at Waterfront Cebu on February 11 and at Music Museum on February 26. With Nyoy Volante as musical director, his guest are PBB’s Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco, PGT colleague Marki Stroem, and with the special appearance of GMA-7’s Aljur Abrenica who is personally invited by producer Edgar Mangahas of MJM Productions that co-produced “Dalaw” with Kris Aquino. A best selling artist whose records top the charts, Jovit will sing his most requested hits “Too Much Love Can Kill You”, “I’ll Do Anything for Love” and “Faithfully”. If he’d be given the chance to sing local songs, what would he choose? “I like the songs of Wency Cornejo kasi idol ko siya noon pa mang days niya with the After Image band.”

Now 17, his life has changed since he won in PGT. The second of five siblings, he’s sending all of them to school. “Yung Kuya ko po, kasama ko sa condo na nire-rent ko sa Sct. Borromeo. Pinag-aaral ko siya ng nursing sa St. Augustine. Noong mawalan ng trabaho ang tatay ko, siya ang nagtaguyod sa’ming pamilya. Nagtrabaho siya sa construction, kaya ngayon, gusto kong magtapos siya ng nursing. Yung sumunod sa ‘kin, high school, at yung dalawa pa, nasa elementary pa lang. Dahil sa pagkanta, nakapag-travel kami ng parents ko. Dito sa Pilipinas, naisama ko sila sa shows ko sa Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, GenSan, Olongapo, Bicol, Ilocos, Bataan, at pati sa abroad, sa U.S., sa Australia, sa Singapore. Next shows ko, sa Ireland at sa Japan, kasama rin sila. Naghahanap na rin kami ngayon ng lote na mapapatayuan naming ng bahay sa Rosario, Batangas. May Starex van na rin akong ginagamit namin sa pagbibiyahe papuntang Batangas at Manila.”

PGT 2 is about to start. Isn't he afraid that the new winner might eclipse his popularity? "Kung sinuman ang mananalo, di ako nai-insecure. I'm sure magkakasundo kami. Basta isa ako sa mga mangungulit sa mga bagong sasali."
