Dingdong Dantes is the reason why Marian Rivera did not accept 'My Valentine Girls'

DINGDONG DANTES recalled that he and Regine were paired before in a telesine, “Tag-ulan at Tag-araw”. “It’s a Holy Week presentation ten years ago,” he says. “Ngayon lang naulit and it’s a daily soap na.” Will he be credible in a role of a man who falls for a gay? “Why not? E, sa panahon ngayon, marami na talagang gays na pag nag-ayos babae, you’d think babae nga talaga, di ba? Ako nga, kung minsan, nagtatanong pa ko, babae ba talaga ‘yan?”

We tell him we really enjoyed his performance in the death scene of Marian Rivera in “Endless Love”. “Ako nga, ayokong panoorin yun, kasi sobrang bigat sa dibdib. But I was driving on the road while it was being aired at nakikita ko sa TV ng mga bus. I think it’s one of the most perfect scenes na nagawa ko. But I’m glad after such heavy drama, I’m now doing comedy in ‘I Heart U Pare’. Sana nga, makagawa rin kami uli ni Marian ng another rom-com like ‘You to Me Are Everything’ which was a hit last year.”

Is it true he told Marian not to accept “My Valentine Girls” with Richard Gutierrez? “Narinig ko nga yan and it’s not true. I have no say in her career decisions kasi may manager naman siya (Popoy Caritativo). And in fairness to her, she never even consulted me about it. I think she didn’t do it as she thought magsisimula na ang taping niya for her new show, ‘Amaya’. But definitely, wala akong ganung influence sa kanya.”
