Tropang Potchi advocates street games

MOST KIDS TODAY are hooked on computer games so we’re glad that “Tropang Potchi”, an Anak TV Seal awardee, is advocating traditional Filipino street games that promote physical fitness. On Jan. 7, they had “Palarong Potchi” with the Magna Kultura Foundation for hundreds of Grade 4 & 5 pupils of Sto. Nino Elem. Sch. in Marikina with kiddie hosts Julian Trono, Ella Cruz, Sabrina Man, Miggy Jimenez, Bianca Umali, at Lianne Valentino.

"Tropang Potchi is all about learning while having fun. Ang mga bata, natututo sila habang naglalaro - natututunan nila ang pagiging patas, pakikipagkaibigan, at pakikitungo sa kapwa," says Ian Roxas, Program Manager. "Our sponsor, Columbia , is keen on promoting traditional Pinoy games. Kaya naisipan naming mag-organize ng isang game day para sa school kids." The games played were Piko, Kadang-Kadang, Karera ng Sako, Chinese Garter, Luksong Tinik, Luksong Baka, Patintero, Kick Ball, Trumpo, Luksong Lubid, at Sipang Bilangan. This will be shown today at 10 AM on Q Channel 11.
