Comedian from U.P Via Antonio a threat to Eugene Domingo

THEATER ACTRESS Via Antonio is given her break on TV as Polly, the wacky best friend of Regine Velasquez in “I Heart You Pare”. She took up theatre arts in UP, where she was directed by Andoy Ranay who then asked her to audition for “I Heart You Pare”. “Pinaarte nila akong babaeng bakla,” she says. “Akala ko, di ako qualified kasi ang tagal kong naghintay. Buti nakuha pala ako. Hindi lang po ako sa acting nag-train but also in singing and dance.”

How does it feel acting with Regine in her first TV show? “It’s awesome, overwhelming, di ako makapaniwala. But now, I realize it’s a big blessing. Napakabait niya. Binigyan ako agad ng three pairs of shoes after magkasama kami sa taping sa Vigan. Wala siyang ere. I’ll confess di niya ako masyadong fan noong araw. But now, hindi lang pala siya very talented kundi she’s got a good heart pa. Mahal siya ng buong cast. In fairness sa lahat ng co-stars ko rito, mababait sila kahit alam nilang baguhan lang ako.”

Some folks say she’s the new Eugene Domingo, who also took up theatre arts in UP. “Yung mga nagsasabi ng ganyan, sabi ko, tigilan nila. Ayoko ma-offend si Ms. Eugene. At saka, baka malasin pa ko. Ayoko masabihang ilusyonada ko. Basta ako, kung anong ibigay sa’kin, I’ll take one step at a time. Senior po sa’kin si Ms. Eugene sa theatre at nagkatrabaho na rin kami. When she learned nasa GMA na ko, she said she’s happy for me.”
