ONE OF THE HOSTS of “Sapul sa Singko” is U.S. educated lawyer Mike Templo, youngest son of former actress Mildred Ortega. He’s a practicing immigration lawyer in New York before cultivating a career in broadcasting in his homeland. He started with ANC and is now enjoying his job as a newscast and delivering corny jokes in TV5’s early morning show. He admits he’s often “nabubulol” because he’s not that used to delivering the news in Tagalog. “Nasanay kasi ako sa English when I was with ANC,” he says. “But I’m trying my best to be more proficient in the national language.”
At 33, he remains a bachelor. “Naiinip na nga ang parents namin as my brother, who’s even older, wala pa ring asawa, e gusto na raw nila magkaapo.” In his case, he suffered from a broken heart. He fell in love with a local TV personality he met abroad and they were on for a couple of years. They were already engaged but the girl suddenly dumped him for a sports personality whom she married and had two kids. He felt sad when he learned his ex-GF and her hubby have broken up. Is he entertaining thoughts of going back to her? “No, I’ve gotten over it. I just haven’t found the right woman for me.”
